I mean, they got Whitney Houston to lip sync the national anthem They are worried about the fact it's outside in a packed stadium with poor acoustics. They are worried that there are jets flying over the stadium. They are worried that there might be technical difficulties with her ear piece or microphone. There are 1000 things that could go wrong on live T.V in front of the largest T.V audience in the world - they want to minimise those risks as much as possible.
