bujibu 462
I want her to go hard on the Born This Way portion of the show (she has to be performing it) with visuals to match. It'd be even better if she had LGBT youth on stage too and they do the whole monster paw raise thing she's done with her dancers in the past. Beyonce made a statement with her Black Panther outfit that said a whole lot; I think Gaga could do the same. To stop the show for a monologue wouldn't bode well, I could see the network going straight to commercial if she did it at the very end of her whole set too. Mister Gaga 22,007
It's playing with fire. It could turn out great, with lots of praise...or it could kill her career.

I agree, as long as something is somehow stated. I still don't get how some gays are so intent on her just being a silent fun pop star, tbh. 32 minutes ago, Scathach said: You know, before Trump took office I would've said no, she should just do her set, if she makes a statement, there will be backlash, etc. But now, seeing as the majority of the US, not to mention many countries around the world, are against Trump, I say go for it Gags, let him have it I agree, wholeheartedly. 3 points in and ready for more
bitchimtrying 2,495
She's literally going to be singing born this way, 'You're black, white, beige, chola descent You're Lebanese, you're Orient' and having rainbow fireworks. What more could you want. Her to stop the show and go on a ramble about immigration policy??? Plus the Superbowl is a performance that follows you for the rest of your career so it has to appear timeless.

Being politically charged doesn't necessarily mean you sit and monologue about policy though. Singing certain songs (Born This Way, Angel Down, Come To Mama) with some sort of patriotic visual will send a big enough message. She can be more provocative and still send a healing image though. It doesn't always have to be controversial or polarizing.

Leeo 2,366
My concept for "Artistic political statement" goes like this: She's Lady Gaga. That it already. She's the woman who did Born This Way, who supported LGBTQ rights since the begin of her fame, supported feminist, she's provocative, she's (or was til 2014 at least, don't take it as a bad thing) everything that the "conservative people" standed agaisn't. The fact LADY GAGA is doing the SUPER BOWL, for me, is already a whole statement. She'll sing BTW. She'll be with her GAY male dancers jumping back & forth doing her "choreos". And we still not knowing what else this woman will bring. I don't feel like she need to put any type of speech or doing anymore songs appart from BTW to be such a big "Statement", but we'll see. Smother Em Eh 6,918
I think it would be really unnecessary to talk about Trump at the Super Bowl. Out of all the places to go on about politics, she is also choosing the Super Bowl? Politics and Sports do not mix together. I think it's chicken **** that she wants to talk about Trump at the SB in the first place. Get Applause & G.U.Y to 1B views!
Fernster7 7,844
Hell to the no. It should be a celebration of her career and it's supposed to bring people together, not attacking one another, I am glad that Gaga seems to agree with me. She can make a cute statement like somebody said saying thank you in arabic but nothing else. Besides, it should be a timeless performance and imo, mixing it with politics would damage that. We have two selves. One the world needs us to be, compliant, and the shadow. Ignore it and life is forever suffering.

It's meant to be fun and exciting while the teams get ready for the next half. She has many other platforms she can be political. Not to mention it can literaly be career suicide This. It's not the place to be divisive. Over half, at the very least, watching will be Republicans. You are there to entertain. I could see see her ending with Imagine, more of a peace anthem. Of course, there can be no peace with Trump in the White House.
