shmal96 2,928
Sidenote, if something like this does come within the next week, I so hope Gaga makes a statement at the SB. Doesn't have to be huge, but something that says that our rights matter and won't be trampled on (even if it's just a huge ass rainbow flag when singing Born This Way)

It seems like he's able to do whatever he wants with them, but what about congressional approval? Congress can still say no, if they are really, really concerned about them. Same is true with (higher) courts. So it is theoretically possible that Congress could shoot down his Wall, simply because it would cost too much money, since Congress is the one who makes the budget. It makes me so sad everyday waking up to a living hell with this man as president. How did we not come together as a country and stop this, it just blows my mind. The womens march and airport protests are great and all but how did we let it come to this in the first place...

Congress still has to approve the wall. All Trump did was order the remaining fund of a Bush border wall Bill to be allocated to the construction of Trump's wall, but it was less than half a billion dollars (I think -- something like that at least). Trump's wall is gonna cost a few billion at least, so Trump's executive order on the wall really didn't o much Same with this possible EO. It isn't very far sweeping and doesn't affect a lot of gay people, but it is such a slap in the face -- and so will the SCOTUS nom tomorrow (probably). Luc 4,776
In case any wondered what the future of the US could look like (and I think it will), read this article: https://medium.com/@yonatanzunger/what-things-going-wrong-can-look-like-400f84a0cc3a#.xor97nsr0 I highly suggest people to move out of the US. What's happening in the US looks like a coup. We used to say somewhat seriously that there were clear resemblances between Hitler and Trump. That was before he was elected president. In his first weeks he has shown no hesitation to act on it. The US laws surrounding the presidency and his powers are built on trust for the American people and trust in democracy to filter out the bad apples; as soon as one is elected, nothing much can be done anymore. The judicial branch is practically being ignored and state security is being put under supervision of Bannon. Trump will get re-elected thanks to terrorist attacks prompting a rise in patriotism and support for the status quo (which will be Trump by that time), just like how Bush got a 80%+ approval rating after 9/11. Trump's team has invited such a terrorist attack to happen by causing polarisation in US society, while Daesh is celebrating these measures. Their purpose is to have a terrorist attack happen. If it doesn't, they'll make it happen, just like Putin did in collaboration with the FSB in the first month of his term when his popularity was still low. After that Putin started a war against Chechnya, further increasing his popularity. Do not fall for this trap. If a terrorist attack happens and within the next 48 hours they introduce measures further infringing the rights of minorities, I suggest you to move out of the US while you can, and don't move to Eastern Europe, Israel, Russia or the UK. Didn't the federal court already say it was unconstitutional to not allow same sex marriage. Do they not have any say in this? It's already been made legal. How do you reverse that? Like, seriously. This is getting out of hand. I thought most of his supposed ideals were just him being dumb, I didn't think he was actually gonna do any of those. Sepsami 20,899
What a disaster, that orange angry bird with the poofball on his head everyone was joking about a couple of months back actually became the president of one of the most powerful superforces on the planet. I don't understand why they still go after the gays? Why? If it's because of 'religious freedom' they should be able to discriminate against ANYONE that somehow doesn't correspond to their personal belief.. Atheist, others religions, sinners,.. but ofcourse that doesn't happen, because these Christians have a personal problem with homosexuality and use religion to justify it. I thought we passed all of this.
