Like how she brought out survivors of sexual assault during TIHTY. That concept would be awesome during Born This Way. And for the people saying it would damage her career, no it wouldn't. Screaming expletives and being crass, then maybe. But a simple act like that, no. Plus the right has never been here for Gaga, so I don't know what fans she would be losing. If anything, her being completely silent could get some backlash. Omg awsome idea!!!! I'd actually like that because she would get to make a political statement without being loud and crass. Born this way in itself is a political statement. Sometimes the loudest most powerful statement is the one that's spoken not screamed I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you
Bette Davis 12,742
If she does anything at all, I hope she makes a statement about equality, but doesn't blatantly bash the "president". If someone has an issue with her speaking out for equality, then they're a shitty human and who cares what they think. Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet. Born this way is in itself a political statement. You don't have to scream to be heard if that makes sense. By performing that, it's her way of saying "I'm watching you trump. I don't like you and I think you're a ****ing moron. Be careful because when you play with fire, you will get burned" I love you monsters. chipz 1,207
Knowing Lady Gaga for years and being such devoted fans of her, you would be foolish to think she will not do anything that has a social/political statement. And no, it doesn't have to be super-controversial or damage her career - it can be done in a tasteful and thoughtful way. For example, my idea would be performing in front of a colorful/diverse crowd with people of different colors, sexual orientation or religion and the cameras focusing on that, from time to time (especially during a Born This Way performance, for instance). We all know that each performer has a paid crowd in front of the stage. How would that damage her career? I don't see it. Another idea would be to dress her dancers to represent the same differences - that wouldn't be too controversial too yet it would spread her message. Of course, she's gonna stay silent before the show if she's gonna do something like that. It would be a huge thing and it must not be spoiled. And even if it doesn't happen on such a big scale, I believe she's gonna do something that will spread a message (not in a Sinéad O'Connor way though). Harry 26,836
I doubt she'll make an outright statement that criticises Trump directly, but more of a love/kindness/equality message. Which is perhaps what we need. Plus I don't think that the NFL would allow her to go ahead with a show that contains anything that could majorly divide the audience, whether you agree with that or not. From their perspective, I'm sure they'd much rather she play it safe. Notice that she's been very quiet regarding politics over the past couple of weeks when she was anything BUT silent about Trump during and following the election, I don't think it's a coincidence. She's laying low so that there isn't a backlash before her show even happens. I think the politics may be back once the SB is over with.
monketsharona 86,867
She won't, she said in that EW interview that she never has been interested by this idea... She should promote love, hope, happiness. Not making it a fight against Trump. The fight have to be made, but elsewhere...
