Antonio’s Remark:

TEN 11’s and it’s not even CLOSE to the top 5, god the meltdowns will be EPIC. I think this song is perfect, it’s talented, it’s brilliant, it’s incredible, it’s amazing, it’s show-stopping, it’s totally unique and never the same, Gypsy is this sort of a sort you can’t get out of your head for YEARS, and I’m loving it.

“This is the one, the song I keep coming back to when I listen to ARTPOP. It is just pure perfection. The first time I listened to it I remember my whole body shivering during the WHOLE song. Where to start? The lyrics are just perfection, I can feel every bit of emotion that gaga feels with every single word, I can feel the love she has for us the fans, the love she has for performing, the love she has for touring, the uncertainty she feels towards the future, the nostalgia, I could go on. Every word seems handpicked to work with the others. Then the melody is perfection. Every single part of the melody is oozing with emotion and works with the lyrics perfectly. Her vocals on this track are out of this world, it is with songs like this that you realise the amount of talent this human being has. It is truly outstanding. Then, the production, Madeon does wonders yet again. Everything works well together, nothing feels out of place, it is simple when its supposed to be it is grandiose when it has to, everything just fits perfectly. You know you have a genius producer when they have the genius and vision to start an electropop song with a simple piano. Pure brilliance. When the bells start ringing during the bridge I shiver everytime. This song is such an anthem, but it does something more for me than other anthems, you can really dance to it, you can feel the emotion but also have a heck of a lot of fun with it. This song is not only the best in the album in my opinion, it is also one of the best gaga has ever delivered on any album hands down. A true gem.”

“The song has a bittersweet feeling to it. It's a song about being lonely because you chose to follow your dreams yet being okay with it because you are doing what you always wanted to do. I promised that there will be a continuation to the story I told when I gave Marry the night an 11, so here it is. Marry the night gave me the motivation to work hard to get a scholarship and study abroad, once I achieved that, Gypsy was (and still is) the song that keeps me going and reminded of why I chose this route to begin with. I don't wanna be alone forever but I can be tonight.”

-           @FlopSlurper

“The highlight of ARTPOP. It is a bittersweet song, but this song is where the album takes a b-line turn towards happiness. I love 100% everything about this song and would change a thing, the lyrics, the melody, the production. It is one of Gaga's best. Personally, this song is very relatable. And I think a lot of people have the feeling of wanting to be with someone, but needing to be on their own for a while, trying to re-find their self. Within her entire discography, this is my second favorite song behind Speechless.”

“My favorite from the album. This really takes you on an emotional journey full of love and hope. The lyrics fill me with so many feelings and Gaga's vocal delivery is breathtaking and conveys her emotions from beginning to end. The "I don't wanna be alone forever, but I can be tonight" is just so relatable and resonated so much with me when I first heard it. The part right before the last chorus where she sings "Bust the rear view and fire up the jets, 'Cause it's you and me, Baby, for life" brings a tear to my eye. This is my second favorite Gaga song and it will be hard to dethrone it from that spot.”

Don't get me wrong, this song has much more going for it than what it doesn't. The chorus is like TEOG's vagabond twin sister, and lyrically it's also quite strong. But the use of a slur just never sat well with me; there are plenty of other words in the English lexicon that could easily be used (rover, wanderer, nomad, drifter, tramp, even vagabond) - especially when you see how little the actual word is required in the song. It just doesn't feel comfortable knowing a slur towards the Romani people was so easily used to title a song, even if the intent wasn't malicious. Qualms aside, it's a cute song, a fun time, and was a great closer for the ArtRave.

Giving Gypsy a 1 should be classified as a felony.
