Morphine Prince 109,654
A Texas lawmaker who wants to criminalize abortion says he believes women ought to be “more personally responsible” for their sexual behavior. “Right now, it’s real easy,” Rep. Tony Tinderholt, R-Arlington, told the Texas Observer this week. “Right now, they don’t make it important to be personally responsible because they know that they have a backup of, ‘Oh, I can just go get an abortion.’ Now, we both know that consenting adults don’t always think smartly sometimes. But consenting adults need to also consider the repercussions of the sexual relationship that they’re gonna have, which is a child.” Earlier this month, Tinderholt introduced a bill that would ban abortions in Texas at any stage and direct state officials to ignore “any conflicting federal” laws, including the 1973 landmark Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision. “A living human child, from the moment of fertilization upon the fusion of a human spermatozoon with a human ovum, is entitled to the same rights, powers, and privileges as are secured or granted by the laws of this state to any other human child,” the bill states. And pregnancies resulting from rape or incest would not be exempt under Tinderholt’s proposal. “I don’t think that there should be any exceptions to murder, no matter what,” he said. “So if this child was out of the womb and it was a child that was born out of rape or incest, no one would be OK with killing a child. I look at it like that child is a child in the womb, just like it’s out.” Source: https://www.yahoo.com/news/texas-gop-lawmaker-who-introduced-anti-abortion-bill-women-should-be-more-personally-responsible-for-sex-170549535.html

PartySick 172,484
Ok but no. That would solve literally nothing. If they want to cut down on abortion rates, they should guarantee Planned Parenthood's continued funding, push for more thorough sex education, make contraception cheaper and/or have it be covered by health insurance, and realize that even if you somehow outlaw abortions, that only stops safe abortions from happening. If you take away a woman's right to go make her own healthcare choices at a professional an sanitary clinic, she'll either end up doing it at home an risking her own life or she'll bring an unwanted child into an already overpopulated world. How can these people be so damn ignorant? It's like they're totally detached from reality. They need to stop calling themselves "pro-life" when they're simply "anti-abortion". FMB 465
And pregnancies resulting from rape or incest would not be exempt under Tinderholt’s proposal. There are no words for vile, repulsive people that think like this. I just don't understand the reasoning of forcing any woman to have a child she doesn't want so that you can what clear your conscious and go to heaven because you are forcing your values on someone else. If she chooses to have an abortion that is her right and it's on her. I don't understand the value of bring unwanted children into an already overpopulated world where there are children sitting in foster care/abused/neglected. I'm going to leave it there before I launch into some tirade.

swordstalker 1,829
I can't wait for the year 2117 because we're going to look back at the completely asinine sh!t some people (like this dumbass) said in 2017 and think I can't believe people were this stupid. These kind of people seem to think women take abortion lightly when it's a gruelling experience and even traumatising for most of them. Nobody's excited or indifferent about it, from what I've seen. Exactly. It's a heart breaking, soul wrenching decision to come to. Especially if that pregnancy is the result of sexual assault. Women who make that choice don't need the horrific feelings compounded by assholes like this dude demonizing them. Whimsical bitch

I'm going to leave it there before I launch into some tirade. Exactly. My bio mother never wanted children but she bought into that whole "you aren't a woman unless you have children" deal. I'm sorry but not every woman is cut out to be a mother. Choosing not to have children as a woman is like admitting that you decapitate puppies and I'm sorry but that has to freakin stop. Not having children is a perfectly legitamate choice and it shouldn't be treated as a horrible thing. Knowing what I know now, I honest to god wish my mom would've either aborted me or given me up for adoption because having a mother that was incapable of showing affection/emotionally cold is incredibly damaging. I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

See that just ****ing pisses me off. I agonized over my decision to abort. We're not ****ing picking between cherrios and cornflakes at the grocery store. If anybody thinks that it doesn't leave lasting effects, I'll gladly give them my therapists phone number. I love you monsters. Letmelivemylife 8,715
Pardon my Language but who in the **** does he think he is ?!? Guess what if you don't have a uterus, you don't get to decide what I get to do with mine. Oh that right I forgot I'm a woman and therefore incapable of making my own decisions. **** you you chauvinistic asshole. You don't always have to be on top. Grow some ****ing balls and let me make my own decisions about my body. If you don't have a uterus, how in the **** are qualified to make decisions about it ?!?. That's like letting a football coach teach ballet. If u think for one second that you're "saving" these poor children, I'd say you're mistaken. Not all women are cut out to be mothers. How do I know? My bio mother was one of them. Honest to god I wish she would've aborted me because growing up with an emotionally cold/incapable of showing affection mother did more damage than I thought possible. Also as a woman that has had an abortion, I loved my child enough to abort him/her rather than subject him/her to a life of misery. If you think for one ****ing second that I took the easy way out, it will take every ounce of my strength not to want to rip you apart. I agonized over that decision. It wasnt like going to the grocery store and saying "hmmm cherrios are cheaper than cornflakes. Guess I'll choose that". It still eats me apart to this day. If you think that abortions don't leave lasting emotional scars, I'll gladly give you my therapists number. Whew i I feel better. That felt good to let out I love you monsters. Lol I don't mean to laugh but that's so true. I love my guy friends dearly but they whine and moan and act like the world is coming to an end when they have a simple cold. It's like "every 14 days give or take my body lays an egg and then 14 days later if the egg wasn't fertilized, the walls of my uterus are ripped down for 7ish days. Tell me again how much that cold sucks". I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you
