Trump threatens to send feds into Chicago if murders don't decrease

Okay this does sound very Boston Massacre-ish but it seems like he's trying to face issues head on. Like what else can we do at this point that will be effective enough? I think he's trying more than Obama did. Like also, another thing on the list of problems w this is POLICE BRUTALITY. Its like you can never win right now. We are in a really tough situation as a nation.

I agree more policing may be needed for short term... but hes got a point, going to root causes long term is more effective

 

If u look at the world or even regions within the same nations...

 

What u see is that areas with tougher law enforcement dont necessairily have lower crime rates

 

The police here in the Toronto area is pretty lax and not all in ur face and arent everwhere. Their main duty is mostly just to do with traffic and tickets

 

For example where my cousin lives in Winsor a couple hours down police are far stricter with their eye everywhere and intervene far quicker in situations but in Winsor crime is still higher despite more policing

More police, and active involvement from the police force. 

Chicago isn't even in the top twenty cities with the highest murder rate per capita. Chicago PD has stepped aside. They are not policing, since the federal investigation that found them to be a big gang of jack booted thugs. 

Sending in the military is going to do nothing but cause more problems and issues.

As a Chicago queen, this is ****ing stupid, the problem isn't the lack of police, the problem is the lack of citizen to police connection and the police being giant douches to literally everyone

Well, if you're policing in the most violent cities in America, I could see why they're not super friendly and open to everyone they meet on the street.

That's ridiculous. I live in a city that has more murders per capita than Chicago. The majority of people you "meet on the street" are not criminals and are not looking to shoot anyone. The police force absolutely needs to have a working relationship with its citizens, in order to gain respect and trust. The large majority of people in a community, especially one with high crime, wants the police force to be present and to protect them.

This is going to be a double edged sword for him. I think he's biting off way more than he can chew here. Hundreds, thousands of people have tried from the local, state and "fed" (CIA, DEA, etc) levels to fix this problem. If it's such carnage, why not already send them in now if it's so terrible that he has had to tweet about it so much? Put your money where your mouth is and do something about it instead of tweet.  When he fails, it's going to make him look terrible.

I think he's using twitter to make sure everyone knows whats going on. As in, nothing is too secret and people know what his plans are and can hear it directly from him rather than through an article or messy thing. Most of his tweets seem very impulsive but its clear its a direct link, rather than playing telephone. This basically confirms its an idea that he'll try and plan for. It's not out of laziness or "privilege".
