Borislshere 53,665 Posted January 25, 2017 Share Posted January 25, 2017 A popular Italian chef has come under fire after he likened vegans to members of a sect and claimed he would “kill them all” during a TV cooking show. Gianfranco Vissani, the chef and restaurateur, made the comments during a discussion on cooking programme In Onda about molecular gastronomy, The Local reports. Mr Vissani responded to his co-presenter’s description of molecular gastronomy as a “lifestyle,” with the words: “What do you mean, like vegans?” He then went on to say: “Vegans are like [members of] a sect, they’re like Jehovah’s Witnesses.” Another chef on the programme, Davide Oldani, told him “don’t say such rubbish”. Mr Vissani responded by claiming: “But it’s true,” adding: “And I mean vegans, not vegetarians. What would I do with the vegans? I admire vegans who do it for environmental and animal reasons. They have more self control in their pinky then most of us do in our entire bodies. But I'm just talking about those who try to force their views on the world and in an extremist type of way. Unfortunately it is very common in the vegan community. Still respect you guys though. For example I buy a lot of Asian foods that will say vegetarian that are actually vegan, and its because vegetarian initially meant vegan there, no animal products. Especially since they aren't as big on dairy as we are. So technically you're right in you can say a vegan is a vegetarian as well Edit: In the west vegetarians just avoid meat, while vegans avoid all animal products like dairy and including any clothing, beauty, or cleaning products as examples that may have vegan products in them or be tested on animals FATWIFE, First Lady Of GGD Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
