Joanne has already outsold all of the female artists' albums of the last year aside from Beyonce and Rihanna. (past year meaning albums that came out from January 2016 to now). Sorry, Ariana, Meghan, Sia, Alessia, Daya, Not you putting Ariana and Sia in the same category with those other irrelevants when Cheap Thrills and Side To Side destroyed most singles. They also have decent sales.
Josip 3,971
How about you people stop being one-sided and take everything into account? You show juxtaposition of album sales between Gaga and Sia, Rihanna, Ariana et al. Take single sales, Youtube views, Spotify streams, popularity of artist in general and other metrics into consideration too. Now who's winning? Windowlicker 3,555
These are fantastic numbers. Streaming is definitely her weakness, which is so weird for an artist who came up with the social media era. I'm hoping they get it together in 2017. Just get more content out there, get added to notable playlists, etc. She could even add the album to her VEVO if she wanted. None of this is stuff she even has to do herself. There are people at the label who deal with all this.

StrawberryBlond 14,866
Of course, it would have been great to have more, but that's still good, all things considered. That must mean she's sold about 500-600k worldwide (anyone got those stats?) which is great by today's standards. You have to remember that Gaga's in her 30's now, a time when a lot of people give up on a female popstar. She's had no big hits from this album. It wasn't critically praised to high heaven. It hasn't won any awards yet. She put it out after a 3 year break. Her last era was largely forgotten by the public and some weren't even aware of AP's existence to this day. She's had limited promo. She's not got that 'cool' factor among the youth market like she used to. And yet she's outsold newer, younger artists who are actually getting hits and doing promo. Let's be real, in 2016, these sales are good. With the SB coming along, I hope this will only lead to a Beyonce-esque career resurrection. After all, Beyonce was coming off the underperforming 4 when she did the SB. That album was her equivalent of AP. It had poor first week sales for an artist of her caliber by 2011 standards, it had no top ten singles in the US, it was her lowest selling album and had no tour. But then she performed at the SB 2 years later and the world fell in love with her, leading to the major success of follow-up albums, Beyonce and Lemonade and the ensuing mega bucks tours. If Beyonce can do it, Gaga can sure do it. 11 hours ago, Kristoxic said: Explain Beyoncé snatching 1 M wigs (copies) She has positivity on her side. In 2013, she was everywhere, before she'd even put music out. Then she did a critically acclaimed SB performance, which meant everyone wanted to see her on tour and were super interested when she dropped an album out of nowhere. The ensuing praise from all outlets resulted in another success with Lemonade. But let's be honest, she wouldn't sell this much if she didn't hype herself up like she does, if she didn't have the media on her side. If your label and the media can sell you right, you can sell. 9 hours ago, GrandeVersace said: Not you putting Ariana and Sia in the same category with those other irrelevants when Cheap Thrills and Side To Side destroyed most singles. Successful singles should translate into successful album sales, should they not? Considering all the millions of YT subscribers they have, how many millions of views and likes their videos get, how much promo their music gets, I'm surprised they're not selling more. If Gaga had all this but couldn't sell her album, people would call her a flop.

No, because Alessia isn't a big name like them. Ariana and Sia are big names. They should be selling more copies of their album considering that they have hit singles. If Gaga can sell more copies despite not even having so much as a top ten hit this era, why can't they sell the same amount or more with hits? Are you comparing music to out of date technology? Rihanna didn't throw a million cassettes of ANTI from a rooftop in NY. Lol Your metaphor needs a little work. Also album sales DON'T EQUATE POPULARITY ANYMORE, so there is that. Your whole argument needs work. Nice try though.
