It doesn't take that long. There have been two giant oil spills from pipelines in the last six months alone...the same type of pipeline that Trump just signed off on for approval. The first one sent some 225,000 litres of heavy oil and diluent into the North Saskatchewan River. The spill, affecting an area of about 41,500 square metres, forced the Saskatchewan cities of North Battleford, Prince Albert and Melfort to shut off their water intakes from the river and find other water sources.

Beginning in 2009, the frequency of earthquakes in the U.S. State of Oklahoma rapidly increased from an average of fewer than two 3.0+ magnitude earthquakes per year to hundreds per year in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Thousands of earthquakes have occurred in Oklahoma and surrounding areas in southern Kansas and North Texas since 2009. Why is this happening?  Scientific studies attribute the rise in earthquakes to the disposal of wastewater produced during oil extraction that has been injected more deeply into the ground. 

Oklahoma -- not California -- is now America's earthquake capital. Until 2008, the state averaged one or two a year. Now it's almost three a day.

Drinking water and earthquakes are important issues that people are dealing with in the US right NOW, and are going to be bigger issues under the Trump administration. It may not seem like a big deal to you, but it is a big problem for millions of others.

All of this is a test, not only for Americans but for everyone in the world, even if it isnt much we have to do our part and do every single little tip scientists have given us to fight climate change, from turning to clean transport like bikes, to unplugging anything youre not using.

Even if it isnt much, if everyone comes together to do it, we will at least diminish the effects of trump on climate.
