Women's March on Washington (and worldwide)

Majority of them are peaceful. It's as peaceful as you can get with a crowd marching outside of that size. 

Trump is planning to sign an executive order to REMOVE FUNDS from planned parenthood that WOMEN need. It's like basic healthcare for WOMEN. Civil rights are equal rights. Men don't need planned parenthood but women do and that is what Trump is trying to TAKE AWAY. Why do you think a bunch of women were holding signs with vaginas on them?

People don't see the meaning? Maybe it means they are not informed and don't dig deep. There is a root cause for this and people who don't see meaning  just keep on scrolling their feeds looking at all these people who have  something to fight for out there without trying to know WHY.  

This means less access to clinics that provide birth control, condoms, OBGYN needs and yes, even abortion. It means a woman trying to raise a child they are ill equipped for, or they are not ready for yet because they were not given information and access to planned parenthood.

This means getting a control on how women live their sex lives and most importantly, their health. That is why they are marching. 

It's not blown up at all. I say it is a long time coming.

Nobody gets what they want without going outside the streets and marching. History taught us that. You can't just let things happen without a care, you have to stand outside and voice your opinions to be heard most especially if you are a minority. The rights you have today are from the backs of the people who marched outside. And we as people will do it again when our rights are being infringed upon.

Why are you bringing up extremism when we are talking about a women's march? Come on... Being a woman, and supporting women, shouldn't be a "movement". It's a simple matter of who we are. And it's that simple definition that is being threatened. 

And what do you think civil rights is? It's not just legalizing being a woman or a gay person. It's about the equal representation of people. It's about not having to fear that those groups of people will not be treated any different from "the man". There's still a lot to do when it comes to civil rights. We still have states that are legally given the right to discriminate LGBTQ in the workplace, housing, and as normal human beings. I'd advise you to go to your local college and take some classes in the social sciences. You'll understand that everything that exists to today is a matter of not doing enough yesterday. There's so much crime in how we view our neighbors based on what some "scientist" told the country 50 years ago. Fight stereotypes. Fight intolerance. Fight ignorance (even if that means educating ourselves on things we might already know about). 

Yeah, Mike Pence is probably the worst one out of everyone. Trump isn't super against LGBTQ as much though, and it would take a lot of work to actually take away certain rights. Realistically, it doesn't seem like its at the top of anyones list and it'll be fine. Nothing amazing, but fine. 

And there are extremists involve with the march. Definitely. And i went off into more about movements in general. I wasn't claiming everything was a movement, but obviously there are extremists involved with a giant march. Not because there female, just because common sense...and what i was saying was that extremists sometimes take away from the meaning of things. Like causing divides and creating them instead of helping them. And I understand this stuff, i don't need to take extra studies in classes because of my opinion. It doesn't make me uneducated bc i have a different view point. And realize i do agree with you on certain things. I understand civil rights and referring to the different minorities, i think sometimes people only highlight themselves as different when they try and fight for social justice sometimes. (I'm not talking about the march really w that).

I understand defending that. That makes sense. I'm saying i've seen other things. I understand what planned parenthood is, and i don't think Trump is removing things because its for women and not for men. That is an ignorant statement (idk if u meant it that way//sorry if u didn't). I think its more than Planned Parenthood has been seen as sketchy for, you know, the occasional baby parts, etc. I'm not going to go into that, i don't think its necessary to talk about that mess. He may also think it isn't fully the best thing. I 100 percent get that side of the protest. We'll see what happens. Obviously planned parenthood is a good thing w good motive. It seems like some of the protests are precautionary though, which i guess kinda makes sense. When using Trump, i think we should wait until he actually does something.

And no i don't think going outside on the streets is the way to go about every topic. We've seen in the last year that not everything goes smoothly that way. Especially with social issues. Maybe in this case it's good, as long as it stays civil. Look at other protests.

Trump is removing  planned parenthood because he does not support pro choice. He doesn't believe women have the rights to their body and would deny funds to give them access to it. Women marched because they believe they have the RIGHT (a civil right) to have access to planned parenthood.

You say that it is good, and you know Trump is taking it away (you said he is not okay with it-- duhh cause he is not affected by it), and you are okay with it  (you said "we'll see what happens") because it DOES NOT affect you. That whole mentality is the reason why all those women marched today because they cannot IGNORE it and just 'see what will happen'.

It's sad that I'd actually forgotten this was happening until today. But when I saw mentions of Madonna's speech, I can't believe I did forget. And then I started researching about how it's all going down. And then I came close to tears at the sight of the outpouring of devotion to this cause. To see all those thousands of people shouting "love, not hate, make America great" made tears of joy come to my eyes. Hearing Ashley Judd's 'nasty woman' poem made me wish I was there to shout "hell yeah!" along with the rest of them. And then I saw how these marches were going down all over the world, which I had no clue about. That there were protests going in my country and my city and I didn't even know. If I'd known, I'd have wanted to go. I had no idea that this many people all over the world cared. And it makes me hopeful that not every women is against feminism. That not everyone is against change. That not everyone wants to sit back and just accept things.

Whenever I feel sad for humanity, I'll look back at the stories of these marches to remind me that humanity is great and in the words of Emeli Sande: "We're all wonderful, wonderful people, so when did we all get so fearful? And now we're finally finding our voices."

The Pro-Life, Pro-Choice is a debatable thing and i get the supporting of the issue. I did look up more direct quotes from Trump and yeah he is Pro-Life and doesn't support planned parenthood. He wants to save lives at all costs as its his belief and it isn't selfish or women-hating. You can argue the same thing in reverse. I don't think he's women hating because he's pro-life. Sorry? Personally, i'm pro-choice. I hope nothing happens. I said "We'll see what happens"..He just got sworn in as president, like what the **** do u think i mean? Does it effect you directly? (I'm not sure of your gender/so sorry if ur female). I honestly don't remember what we were talking about at first but i was referring to the march and extremists who are there and how i think certain things are overblown.  I understand the pro-choice debate so i don't get what your real problem is. The fact i'm not as invested in the march and protesting? Apparently this makes me ignorant? And seriously, my choice of words bothers you...we're on an internet forum. And also, i wasn't really trying to attack you personally at all..but i guess now i'm ignorant and just not as smart as you because i think differently?

Just came back from the march in NYC. It was jam packed and I heard there were 400 thousand to 500 thousand people. The signs were great too. Amazing!
