(CNN) - Protesters in the United States and around the world are joining marches Saturday to raise awareness of women's rights and other civil rights they fear could be under threat under Donald Trump's presidency.

The key focus of the day is the Women's March on Washington, which organizers say could attract a quarter of a million participants.

But there are also more than 600 "sister marches" planned around the United States, with some of the biggest expected in Boston, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

And women and men in cities around the world -- including Sydney, Berlin, London, Paris and Cape Town, South Africa -- are also marching in solidarity and in opposition to the values they think Trump represents.

80,000 - 100,000 people showed true British support in London today. :diane:

It's amazing to see such a worldwide support and I hope the support would be returned. I hope this continues and we start to become one race, one planet.

The sad part is how true this is :air:

Hilary did win the popular vote though so we've got that.

Many were duped by the media, took up politics on the day of, werent knowledgable, believed in better and many who are marching also voted against Trump but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Probably voting for her. (especially if they were closer to their thirties and older) They were a reliable voting block.
