The move by the Department of Housing and Urban Development — one of the first acts of Trump’s administration — reversed a policy announced in the waning days of the Obama presidency that would have trimmed insurance premiums for typical borrowers by hundreds of dollars a year. The FHA does not make loans. It is an insurance service that has successfully been helping veterans, first time buyers and the middle class purchase homes since the 1930s. The housing crises was due to shady practices with banks making adjustable rate mortgages, a falling housing market, refinancing homes up to 120 per cent of the appraised value, forty and fifty year loans and out of control credit card debt. The combination of these factors caused the housing crises. FHA loans did not cause the crises. BTW, current loan requirements are stricter than they have ever been, with the new guidelines set in the last eight years. There is absolutely nothing "easy" about getting a house mortgage in the US!
