Exactly this.

I'm listening to Honeymoon right now, it's been so long, I don't even remember it :toofunny:

Easily Lana; Lorde is nice, but I only like some of her music.

Lana is flawless; her videos are mostly masterpieces, her lyricism is exceptional, the production of her music is amazing, and her voice is just so soothing and engaging.

Lana's discography is certainly much larger and varied, both released and unreleased. I also just think her approach to lyrics and story telling are beautiful and kind of tragic. I gravitate towards it.

However, being the same age as Lorde, PH resonated me in such a profound way. I've grown up so much since PH and so has she and I'm very excited to see that reflected in her new music.

Im gonna go with Lana right now, but if Lorde had a discography and career as long as Lana's (but still being the same age), I might honestly go with Lorde. Lorde's music is more... intellectual and reflective to me, where as Lana's is more pensive and retrospective, its also much more atmospheric, which is maybe the defining factor for me.

Lana can write a narrative as well as provide a context and setting through her music, and Lorde has great lyrics and melodies, but to me, the instrumentals and production that accompany her music seem incidental. Even though I'm not a fan of just drums, strings, and bird sounds (Stop using these Emilie :neyde: ) all of the time, I definitely feel like the sonic soundscape of Lana's music is always deliberately made to accompany her music and it goes a great job of it. The best most recent example for me is Salvatore. That song is a masterpiece atmospherically, and lyrically. Even some of the lyrics are compromised for the sense of conveying a very powerful specific mood. (E.g, her including Italian words that aren't necessary the most important to the plot)

Personally, I'm a huge fan of music just taking me on an adventure to explore my own feelings. I sometimes feel alienated by overtly personal statements in music. I feel like even though many of her narratives are connected and similar at the end of the day, Lana is definitely like a silent protagonist or narrator, like the guy in the Twilight Zone. She leads me down a road, but then she leaves me to explore. What's more common is that the narrator takes you to a room and begs you to empathize with their stories :gum:

Lorde has not proven herself yet, Lana has been in the industry for a long time and has offered plenty of material, and shown progress. Lorde knows how to write, yes, but Lana does too, and she is better at singing and has a wide range.

So, Lana is a better artist at this point, Lorde is still a newbie.

Lana is amazing but I actually can relate more to Lorde's songs and enjoy them more sonically .

1 album vs. 4 albums lol

if Lorde had a bigger discography, she'd be a better candidate

Lana, mostly because there's a lot more there to listen to so there's more chance to like more of her music but also because she just genuinely makes mostly beautiful music.

It took me a while but I grew to like a few of Lorde's Pure Heroine songs but the whole thing never grew on me. I do think she's got massive potential though especially if she continues to grow with her musical styles and her attitude seems to have improved massively so that makes her a lot more likeable than she was before.
