ApplauseftAdele 4,730
2016 has had one of the worst music trends to date. This trend has failed to produce any memorable songs, instead pumping out generic, catchy, happy, shallow, mediocre tunes. It's the "tropical house" trend, and it needs to stop. (Also the high pitched autotuned cat singing ) Here are some examples : Spoiler These songs have literally no substance. Although they are catchy and fun, they are just straight up generic and have no volume or depth. Don't wanna know is probably the worst offender, because it feels like Maroon 5 was so desperate for a hit they tried to recreate Cheap Thrills and even got kendrick on their track.. And I thought this trend would end in 2016 but then the first new song I hear in 2017.. PLEASE END THIS TREND Gaga please start a new trend like you did in 2008 edit : Im not saying 2016 was a bad year for music. Some of my fave albums were released this year but there were so many tropical house singles that dominated the radio I lost braincells
donutellha 13,819
I want L.C.S. (Lazy chorus syndrome) to end Having an instrumental chorus sounds good... in some cases BUT NOT EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN SONG Walk down the runway but don't puke, it's okay. You just had 10 donuts today. Without frosting.

JohnnyVersace 9,008
Are you guys insane? Rihanna, Ariana, Beyonce, Gaga The Weekend and Kanye all had new, innovative, and bootable albums. If anything, Tropical House was 2015 with Bieber.

Even songs like Titanium had a strong, short chorus, and a really good instrumental chorus Walk down the runway but don't puke, it's okay. You just had 10 donuts today. Without frosting. True but all of these albums didnt follow the trends. It wasn't really about albums (imagine listening to a whole album of this stuff ) but more about singles that became super popular and overplayed because of this trend. xoxo cupcakke 4,781
TBH, the tropical house trend is one of the best trends to happen in a while, or at least one of the most refreshing. I'm living for these trop-pop, trop-hop, dancehall pop themed music And maybe you could've had a point, but you do not come after the multiplatinum selling, Top 10 charting good sis Cheap Thrills by Sia. That is a bop and you are going to like it

That is a bop and you are going to like it tbh I love Cheap Thrills but the tropical genre has kinda gone too far. CT was released in Feb 2016. Ed Sheerans new song is almost 11 months later and its still the same sound
Yuuri 21,636
Kesha could bring momentum with either dance pop or psychedelic pop. Gaga's country-rock-pop-folk era isn't over. Katy still has to release. Swift is releasing soon. 1 minute ago, CowSiss said: Top 10 charting good sis Cheap Thrills by Sia.
