The problem is that BLM is a very loose movement with a lot of different leaders in different places. They have no real power structure.

The core thing that BLM in GENERAL is trying to point out is something I will always support, and although I can disagree with the way some people or groups of people act, I do refuse to condemn the entire BLM movement precisely because it's so loose and diverse.

What about focusing more on black on black crimes? White on black crimes are really just a Taylor Swift in a sea full of Meghan Trainors. I don't wanna be that guy but

and look up white on white crime too. You don't wanna be that guy? What guy? The one who doesn't look at the big picture? I'm confused. Your true colors are kind of showing at this point, and it explains why you're so quick to deride BLM. You are being sympathetic, consciously or unconsciously, towards racism.

"However, “black-on-black crime” is a loaded term meant to enable racists, cementing the idea in people’s heads that the real problem isn’t the judicial system and law enforcement disproportionately targeting black people for arrest/incarceration/lethal force, but black people killing each other. It affirms the erroneous viewpoint that everyone has equal opportunity in society, and that the only reason black people are so disenfranchised is due to their own behavior."

The problem with you posting that silly graphic is that it frames it in a way that's so misleading. Yes, most black murderers kill other black people. But most white murderers kill other white people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And white people account for the largest number of homicides in the US, by far.

If there's a homicide in a black neighborhood, it's probably going to be black on black. If there's a homicide in a white neighborhood, it's likely going to be white on white. And lets not forget that the reason a lot of black communities, like those in Chicago, are so stricken by poverty and crime is a direct result of slavery, segregation, and institutional racism. Can black people get out of the situation they were put in? Yes, they often do, and many black people are super successful. But, from the perspective of the big picture, you have to acknowledge that a black person has had to work harder to "get out" and "succeed" than a white person (on average -- white and black people are all born with varying degrees of economic privilege).

Pointing out the high rates of black/black crime and white/white crime doesn't prove that either race is inherently more "violent," it just proves that we still live in very segregated neighborhoods. Thanks for helping me to point that out.

Don't cherry pick to serve your racist agenda. Look at the facts. You aren't as educated as you think you are.

And also, do you not think that the prevalence of violence and poverty in some communities has something to do with a black person committing a crime? A person being led into a life of crime has NOTHING TO DO WITH SKIN COLOR, INHERENTLY, it has to do with the situation in which they were born. The fact is, a ton of black people are BORN into poverty, drugs, and crime. White people who are born into these things have a similar predisposition to continuing a life of crime. So, if this statistic is true, what does it really say, assuming that crime and poverty are directly correlated? It says that more black people are born into poverty. Now, do you want to take a wild guess why that might be? OH YEAH -- slavery and segregation weren't that long ago, and institutional racism is still alive and well. This has historically put black people in less fortunate situations, and has contributed to the poverty and subsequent crime that plague many neighborhoods.

I frankly think it is quite offensive what you're implying, because you are implying that blacks are more violent and dangerous SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THEIR SKIN COLOR, when the real issue is poverty and the things we did to put these people in poverty.

Deal with it.

I know, the truth hurts but it's the truth. Black people are a minority in US yet they're the most incarcerated race. It's not racist, I do not think white people are superiour to any other race, nor do I think black people are inferior. We're all ****ed up, every race on this planet. And btw I know what racism and xenophobia is, my dad is a gypsy so don't come knocking at my door with your bullshit.

Did someone say one race is inherently more violent?

Or did someone say that members of one race are more likely to be violent offenders?

There's a difference.

Off topic comment, I feel like social media/live streaming needs to be implemented into laws somehow. His torture was terrible already, but the fact that it's all over the internet makes it even worse imo. He can never escape it, its humiliating and could make him develop anxiety disorders, etc. (are there already laws about it? idk)

It's interesting that an incident like this only generated four pages of discussion on this site (a bulk of which is dedicated to the defense of BLM), while racially motivated acts of violence in which the victims are Black easily receive twice the amount of attention and outrage. It's sad.

It's not BS. I'm pointing out racist ideas that you are unknowingly perpetuating. It doesn't mean you've never been the victim of racism yourself, though.

I highlighted the important portion of your comment that I am quoting. This is exactly what we're fighting against. The criminal justice system is a vestige of slavery and segregation. There are more black people incarcerated because 1) they are more likely to have been marginalized and grow up in neighborhoods in which crime is prevalent, as a direct result of history 2) they are more likely to be targeted and imprisoned by cops and law enforcement for doing the same things that whites do. This is documented.

So literally what you're saying is "the truth hurts. black people kill more white people. more black people are in jail," as if it proves your point (and I'm not sure what your point even is?) when it really proves MY point.

Did you read my posts and the links I included? You really should. What is your point, exactly? I'm genuinely confused. What are you trying to prove by throwing around these statistics?

Only 4 pages? it's a new thread and something that just happened. I'm sure the pages will grow.

Violence deserves a response no matter where it comes from.

Quite simply, there are more racially motivated attacks against blacks than whites, and more police brutality and unfair targeting against blacks. That's why there is more discussion. But I will discuss violence whenever it happens. It's not a damn contest.

what happened with those 4 kids was disgusting, absolutely. But what else can I say about it? This has evolved into a convo about BLM because it's relevant to the conversation, because people are going to use this heinous act to condemn an entire collection of organizations as terrorist groups when that isn't the case. I will fight against this as hard as I'll fight against violence in general.

However, there are many more white people than black people. Let's look at percents not just a number.

Yet black people are the ones getting incarcerated the most. And isn't a percentage also just a number? :duck:

Did you? Did you watch the video as to why BLM is trash? I beg you didn't, but it's okay. I was just pointing out the truth and statistics, I didn't need the explanation and the whole bible sized essays. Your points and arguments may be right but that doesn't change the truth, it just explains it but do you have a solution?

If you read the ABC News article included in the OP you'll notice there is no mention of the attacker's racial motivations, at all. A reader would have no idea based on that story that the attackers would be charged with a hate crime the following day. That article is indicative of the way the majority of the press was covering this story. It's also indicative of the way people are discussing this attack on this site.

No one suggested that this is a contest, and I defended BLM in this thread before you did, but this story clearly challenges accepted narratives about racial violence we have in our culture, and it's making the Left squirm.
