I prefer the album version. The bird chirping part reminds me of "Lovin' You" by Minnie Riperton :)

The work tape has more energy and dynamics in the instrumentation.

Too many people here with moral superiority complex.

I agree. I'd like the album version more if it was in the key of the work tape. Both are still good though

Angel Down is my favorite song from Joanne. Definitely the best written !

I love both versions but I have to admit the Work Tape is warmer and definitely raw. The instrumental is far better with only the guitar.

Excuse me no, the vocals + instrumental in the album version are way better. The work tape turns into a mess near the end

the work tape sounds like a powerful live performance but I like the production of the final version more

Nobody will ever be able to convince me otherwise that the Work Tape version of Angel Down is superior :hor: Instrumental is gorgeous, and vocals are nice and easy to listen to. Album version isn't bad, but I feel like the Work Tape version carries the song along way better tbh

When I listened to them for the first time, the standard version made me tear up and the work tape just gave me those fierce vocals that I love so much

I want Angel Down to close off this era, I always imagine a beautiful, moving video with shots of her playing the piano in a wrecked place alternating with shots of her walking through the wreckage (like the aftermath of a tragedy or attack)

I prefer the album because the instrumental is one of the best I've ever heard to be quite honest. It really captures a sense of question, wonder, death, mourning, but also glory (at the end) as well. The album version is beautiful.

HOWEVER, I live for the vocals in the Work-Tape version too, but I wish she went higher in the last chorus like she does in the album. If the album version was in the work tape's pitch, it would be amazing if this performance proves anything:

Sidenote, 3:35 is the ultimate slayage. The high note after 3:45 hands down makes me very upset the album version wasn't in this key. Ugh so good.

I deleted the work tape, so the album could end on Just Another Day

I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you.

The final version has killer production but it's still a slow song and the vocals are a total snooze, so I usually listen to the Work Tape instead.
