I'm from the US so it was interesting for me to see the differences in popularity of singers compared to the US. My insights: It seems to me that every two (ish) years there's a British female artist who is major and then fades and a new British female artist rules. Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis reigned together in 2007/2008 and Duffy came along in 2008 and were MAJOR. In 2009/2010 Susan Boyle came around and was the major British female artist as Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis and Duffy faded. Adele and Jessie J then came along in 2011 to rule the charts when Susan went away. Adele stayed around in 2012 and Emelie Sande became a powerhouse in 2012/2013, as Ellie Goulding popped up in 2013/2014 and reigned. In 2014/2015 Paloma Faith became majorly success. As Adele maintained her star power in 2015/2016, Jess Glynne managed to become the new UK female artist.  I was surprised to see that Beyonce and Taylor Swift had less success in the UK than the US. Their major success in the UK is relatively recent. Katy Perry also seems to be less popular in the UK than the US and Rihanna seems to have had much more albums success in the UK than the US. And actually, her success in the UK seems to be decreasing now. P!nk also seems to be more of a success in the UK than the US.
