Nice joke post.

But really, this song is so derivative, but accessible in the way a Nicolas Spark's novel is, thus its success. Plus, it sounds like it belongs in 2012. It brings nothing new nor exciting to the genre.

Girl no. It may he "catchy" to some people but it is a very badly done EDM song. There is a reason why they lack respect in the professional EDM and DJ-ing community. And I'm not talking about magazine ranks, I mean actual producers, etc. Closer specifically sounds like it was made from a looper on an online program, hence why Mark mentioned that when he dragged them

That just makes  those other dj's seem insecure tbh. They really did bring edm "back" in 2016

I mean it's a basic song which is why I'm not surprised it went #1. I just don't like the chainsmokers because they seem way too cocky for only having 1 top song and they also bashed gaga.

I thought it sounded fresh. Theres a reason it was number 1 for 12 weeks. if the song was bad that wouldn't be the case

No they didn't and no it doesn't

The Chainsmokers have been notorious in the community since 'Selfie'. And their douchebag antics weren't just exclusive to Gaga. Go look up how they've been. They're not accomplished producers and they don't take their job serious enough to be considered artists. The only people praising them are pop music stans and people infatuated with "bops" on the radio. Those are facts.

Something being terrible has never stopped some song/movie/whatever from being successful, what matters is that people like it for whatever reason, those reasons not necessarily being linked to quality.

but look at lemonade. most monsters call it overrated and deny the impact it's had.

I honestly can't tell if this is serious or not... Lemme entertain it anyway.

How can a song that was such a smash be considered underrated? :duck: Fact is, any song that gets that much exposure will have a large amount of haters just as it will have a large amount of fans.

Guess what? "A lot of work" is put into every single song you hear on the radio, no matter how "basic" any twink on a pop forum might tell you it is. However, just because something is the product of hard work, it doesn't mean it's quality nor does it mean it must be admired/respected/enjoyed by everyone. In the same way that it being a success doesn't mean that it's quality.
