She was on X Factor here in the UK like six years ago. She's barely been that relevant here let alone in the US, so it's kind of a testament to how badly they're struggling to find performers for this.

She's mainly famous in the UK and Europe for being on X Factor UK and has had a decent solo career afterwards. In all honesty, she has got a beautiful voice and she's quite sweet.

Kind of, but is there a form of musical expression that protests or sends a message to all groups affected by Trump's demagoguery? I understand Strange Fruit would be very specific, but its still something (not that this is even remotely likely to happen) nice that people could possibly appreciate.

We've got a wide variety of messages that could be sent in some act of good faith, but I can't think of a way to cover all or even most of them without being excessively generic

Strange Fruit is explicitly and only about the lynching of Black men and women in the South. It just doesn't make sense to perform at Trump's ingratiation, at all.

There are other protest songs that would be more relevant.

As long as his supporters are there, there will be relevance. Even if the black civil rights movement is irrelevant to Trump's agenda, it's not like there aren't people using him who would find it relavent to them.
