It was a little before the single was officially released in April 2008. I was 15 years old at the time. I remember watching some guy's video on Youtube and he was dancing to it. From the first time I heard it, I was mesmerized. I'd had never really heard anything like it before, and nothing on the radio at the time could pale in comparison. A pattern she has been consistent with. From that moment on I followed everything this "Lady GaGa" did and my life has changed ever since. Especially with TFM and BTW. But at that time, I wasn't a die-hard fan, I just really liked her songs and surprising music videos. When ARTPOP came out, I like Applause, but i prefer the other ones.. I kind of stopped following her updates, and didn't even know about G.U.Y and the C2C album.. Honestly, one day I remembered the days I loved Gaga so much and I looked at a number of her videos, and at that time it was just a few days before the SuperBowl. drbumblenut 48 Posted February 12, 2017 Share Posted February 12, 2017 Poker Face came to my attention via a snarky pop culture blog called The Superficial, which said (paraphrasing) that it was objectively awful but also admitted it was insanely catchy. So I was confused at first, because my ears said YES YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING TO HEAR THIS YOUR WHOLE LIFE but my brain said LAME. And then Poker Face became my obsession. And then she was the only pop star I cared about for years. And now her music teaches me how to edit the TV shows I work on. I know, right? It's weird to bridge the 2 disciplines. But her music crams in layers and layers of interlocking melodies to tell complex but cohesive stories, so I use that thinking in my work. So... Poker Face made me a stan.
