Many good singers there. The reason I like Lady Gaga the most, is that I love her (slightly nasal) voice, and she doesn't use too much melisma, like Christina Aguilera. Some of these singers also have voices I find a bit annoying, especially Sia. I like how "clean" Lady Gaga's voice sounds, in comparison. I like Beyonce's voice (less than Gaga's, though), but I don't like her music. The same goes for Ariana Grande.

I realize that this is subjective, though.

Vocally she's the absolute best but her songwriting isn't quite up there  not like the others are tho, half of them don't even write their own songs :laughga:

I agree. Gaga is still a pretty good songwriter though and the fact that she writes her own stuff makes her songwriting even better in my opinion :firega:

I don't think her songwriting is brilliant, like David Bowie, but it is still solid (subjectively, it's very good, because I love her songs). And like you say, many of the others don't write their own songs.

She's without a doubt one of the best musicians in this industry. It's such a shame that some people can't see past the wigs, makeup, costumes, etc. and see that she actually has a lot of talent and passion for her music.

She's also definitely one of the best vocalist of today's music industry, I'd put her up there with people like Sia—who I not-so subtly think is also one of the best voice's in today's music industry.

Sorry. ;) I think Sia is cool, I just can't stand her voice, personally.

lol It's all good, it was all in good fun.

She definitely has a unique voice, that I guess to some people, can be undesirable. I just love her and her music so much, her voice is powerful and in some parts, is flawed, which I actually like. It gives her voice and music character and personality that no other music can really do.

I totally understand, and I took your response in good faith. :) You're also right, her voice has character. For me, it's just that she does this thing with her voice that I don't like. I don't know what it's called, but it reminds me a bit of Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries. You know, when the voice sort of breaks. Some people like that, some people don't.

When her voice cracks? If so, yeah, that's something that just comes down to someone's personal preference. I love it, I just think it adds more character and more dimension in her singing style, but to each their own :D

She's definitely one the most talented vocalists but Adele and Celine gave me those goosebumps here. :diane:

Yeah, that's what I mean. That's a thing you either like, or you don't. In the same vein, I would totally understand if someone doesn't like Gaga's nasal voice (it is a bit nasal, isn't it?). I find it charming, but others may find it annoying.

One thing that is not up to personal preference, is whether or not these two women can sing. Technically, they are both good singers.

Anyway, it's evening here in Norway, so I should probably be more social and stay away from the computer. It's New Year's eve, after all.

Happy new year to you and everyone else on GGD! :)
