Released: May 16th 2011

Writers: Stefani Germanotta, Nadir Khayat

Producers: Lady Gaga, RedOne

Peak: #12 (June 4th 2011)

Although Hair was supposed to be the second promotion single from Born This Way, The Edge of Glory did so well it was promoted to a single, making Hair the first promotional single from the album.

Gaga took to Twitter explaining the track: "When I was a kid, I used to always come down the stairs of my parents' house, and they would say, 'Go back upstairs and brush your hair, change your clothes, you can't go out wearing that', and I felt like it was stifling my identity... My hair was my glory. It was the only thing that I could change about myself."

i'll be honest - it was this song that supported me through my coming out period... when my parents did not accept my orientation, i turned to this song as comfort and my rebellion - i'll die living just as free as my hair...

I love this song and the message, it really did speak to me when I was young, closeted, and self conscious. Hair (and the rest of BTW) is such a gem and I'm forever grateful that I'll always have Gaga

I can't forgive her for not putting the acoustic version on the album. It is miles better than the overproduced mess we got, I still like it tho.:neyde:

Born This Way is full of amazing tracks and this one is one of them. I remember downloading and listening to it for the very first time. I really couldn't believe Gaga had recorded such amazing songs that year. The Edge of Glory and Hair REALLY hyped me to death. The instrumental is everything and the meaning of it is so sweet.

I never knew she performed it at the artrave (I used to look up videos after every single concert :toofunny:) .

I teared up a bit I love that song so much :kara:

As cheesy as it sounds, this was literally me as well :emma:

BTW album literally saved my life, as cringy and attention seeking that seems :rip:

私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
