babyboo 965
i can't even with people saying she's overreacting. it's not the same like when you just spew bullshit on the internet people. imagine being told to your face "ur sexy as hell" and then proceed with "i see you, i see u hitting that man". it kinda feels like in his (the fan's) mind she's some kind of a 'trophy' and he's winning bc he can **** her or sth. put urself in her shoes, wouldn't u feel like a piece of meat being told off like that in that situation? not the biggest deal in the world but IT IS sexism. Can't a woman sing about love and sex & wear tight/short dresses and still be against mysogyny? I think that was one of the meanings of the meat dress; "just because I'm a woman who sings about sex and feels confident in her body, doesn't mean that you can treat me like a piece of meat" I don't mean to say that Ariana is being overly sensitive or what...but something just doesn't quite add up imo. The thing is, she keeps singing about how she want to have a man, which makes her look inviting and 'open'. It's like if I shouted to the whole world that I want to have sex, someone out there would probably have came and took me. It's still really disrespectful on the fan's part, and I know what she's talking about is part of a much bigger issue that women have to face, but if I was Ariana, who keeps on suggesting that she's a strong, confident women, I would probably have just taken it and played with it. Just like how most men would probably deal with it in the situation. You know, like that final scene in Grease? Where Sandy was all confident about her sexuality? But, since she's part of the more 'disadvantaged' sex, she's not wrong at all to speak out on this. It just...doesn't seem like who she portrayed herself to be in her music and videos. I think that's what some people are having trouble with here.
