Not Every Album Has to Be An Instant Number One...

Tons of artists and musicians who we consider to be great icons and legends HAVE NOT had all top selling albums and number one singles with everything they've released. It's not necessary for albums to be instant number ones like you all think, you are all way too wrapped up in the performance of albums and singles. It is not what makes an artist an icon or a musician an icon. You all need to stop acting so obsessed with performance and start actually paying attention to the musical content and messages and where the lyrics Gaga is writing come from, not all this fodder about pop mainstream sellability and sales. A lot of the greats have had underground albums and low key songs that didn't hit the mainstream  and albums that didn't sell well that have become iconic over the years. Educate yourselves.

I'm going to bring up Beyonce for example, sure she has a couple big albums that sold well first week but so what? Media acts like she's this great artist but come on, what has she done that's truly iconic or memorable? She just farts out an album that is created by 100 people and gives zero memorable performances, acts like she's too hot to appear on talk shows and give interviews, she just makes her husband money and disappears, that is not indicative of a true icon or legend.

I was with you until the Beyonce part, she is undoubtedly an icon. One of the greatest, if not the greatest, performer of her generation.

I think she'll just casually stream along with medium level success from now on. Maybe a hit or two more over the years. But I also think her career will be very long and she's not going anywhere soon!

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

You had me until the last paragraph. If you need to bring somebody else down to lift somebody up, maybe the things you have to say are not very intelligent after all and are better left unsaid.

I just think we should've had more number one songs between Born This Way and today. Not enough singles or music videos have been released compared to her contemporaries imo.

I agree with you

Beyoncé's Lemonade is soo boring album.

Only media lift her up and help her into making more money. Her attitude :emma:

Her old songs are good imo.. but that was 7 years ago. Since then only good one is Haunted

I bet you ALL ! After 10 years Gaga will be bigger than her ( not like she's not now :giggle:) .

Beyonce stans

Honestly you're right. (And I also agree with the Beyoncé part :poot:). But I also think that Gaga's team(manager) should have done more to help her albums to be more successful. It's not even Gage's "fault" at this point. Her marketing team has done some pretty lame decisions lately that really brought the chances of the Joanne era to be successful down.

Joanne debuted at #1 though

Anyway, personally, I've gone through her songs over and over, day by day. There's nothing new. Why can't I also hope she gets a hit so she can spread her message better and achieve the success she deserves for her hard work?

Yes, not all legends have number 1s, but they contribute to their chances of being legendary. And this is also true:

Although Lauper and Aguilera are praised for their talent, for the GP, being compared to them usually has a negative connotation in terms of a (pop) girl's career.

I don't think that is the point right now.

If Joanne was good enough, fans wouldn't really care for the chart success. For me, the truth is Joanne's music is not satisfying enough. There is nothing to stan for, therefore the obsession about the charts. People around her seem pretty educated about music actually, so I don't agree with your opinion.

Was that Beyoncé part really necessary?

flops according to who? So called fans who should be supportive rather than critical of every damn thing their alleged fave does. "flops" a term created by so called fans to put down their so called fave. The fanbase is the flop, not Gaga, and during no other decade other than this one, has charts been so obsessed over, it should be celebrated Gaga makes music because she loves it, and that she loves, rather than for the charts, don't you people get that yet? Honestly, as before, some people here just love to hate Gaga, she could deliver another fame (which is what ARTPOP pretty much was) and you all would still whine and complain and compare it.
