This Is So Sad - Child Celebrates Being Adopted

I decided to post because I find this so depressing.

Many news outlets are reporting this as a heartwarming story.  One that has "everybody smiling."

What a nightmare.  This child is 3 years old and is celebrating that he is going to have a home and a family.  I can't think of anything lately that makes me want to cry so much.

This tiny child has been waiting, unclaimed and unloved?  And now he's just grateful not to be alone and lost in an institution?

I guess I'm naive.  I don't think "how wonderful, what a nice story."  I think, "omg, this is happening?  Wtf??!?!?!"

I want to adopt all the children.

Why is this happening to children?  Why do we enjoy him being grateful for a family?  Shouldn't he be angry?

Good for him and even better for the parents on accepting this child into a family <3 I wish more people would adopt! Soooo many children waiting for a home...

Awwwww so freakin cute!!!!! So glad he was adopted!!! Idk if I'm gonna have more bio children. I wanna adopt 3 kids. I know what it's like to feel unwanted and unloved. It screws you up mentally. There's a park behind my apartment and in that park there's a mama duck and her 6 babies. Babies are all grown up now but they're all different colors so I think something happened to mama duck's bio babies and she adopted these ducks when they were babies. Didn't matter to mama duck that they weren't biologically hers. She loved them as if they were. Lol my daughter and I jokingly call them gaga and the little monsters. Gaga taught me that DNA doesn't make a family. Family is the people who love you unconditionally and would drop everything to be there for you . You guys are my family

Yeah. Well welcome to life. It's not the sugar-coated fairy tale you might think. 

Stuff like this should warm your heart. Think about the fact that at least now there's one less abandoned child in this world.

This isn't sad. He was basically thrown away by a mother who didn't want him and couldn't care for him and was adopted by someone who did want him, and he is thankful for the family that took him in and got him out of the system, this is a great story.

I find this heartwarming. The article says he has been with the family since early 2015, that's almost 2 years - so at least he's had a consistent home for most of his life and he, and his carers, won't be suffering the impermanency of the foster system from now on - that's the worst part of foster care. Any child, whether you've cared for them for 12 months or 12 years, can be taken from you at any time. 

To anyone that reads this and feels anger or questioning why kids are still being raised in foster/adopting agencies I hope redirect this frustration/curiosity into looking at how support for families/women is managed in their respective state and how things can be improved whether it be offering more funding for family benefits, support for struggling families/single parents, support for parents dealing with substance dependence/abuse and how poverty is addressed as well as the reproductive rights of women.

@Computer I agree with you, it's a tragedy that so many children have no homes. This is why I hinrstly believe the government should ban having children until the orphanages are empty.

Its also disgusting that in the United States Of America, the richest nation in the history of the world, that we don't give these place she more funding. These places should be our finest facilities.
