Oriane 21,116
I understand it's not everyone's taste but I love when she mixes different genres, to me Born this Way, ARTPOP and Joanne work really well in this way. I don't want her to quit anything, she can keep doing pop, rock, other stuff... What really matters is what comes out of it at the end. I don't know if music in one strict genre would be good. I'm not a fan of her "100% pop" songs. On Joanne, I think there's just the right amount of country, I don't like this genre usually but Sinner's Prayer is one of my favorites from the album, it's a perfect mix of pop, country and rock. I disagree with people who think music has to be only one genre. Like you, I saw a lot of critics saying she should do something 100% rock to really do something good. But to me, this quickly becomes boring if it sticks to one genre. And I think there's more creativity and work on music that combines many genres... pedrohemg 7,802
I'm waiting for Gaga go rock since You and I. Gaga if you're reading this comment, please be a rockstar. You were born for this and I know you know it.
REALITY 76,751
Honestly, I'd be okay if she had left the pop scene. That being said, it'd definitely be difficult for me, and for a lot of people. While I love other genres, and while I embrace her changing as an artist, that doesn't mean that her transitioning into something else would be difficult to see. Plus, I can't even fathom the amount of "Remember the time she said 'Pop music will never be lowbrow!'" meltdowns we'd be seeing if that actually happened, it would definitely divide the fanbase—even more so than anything else before. That being said, even though I love the Little Monster community, I'm not here for Little Monsters, I'm here for Lady Gaga, and I'm going to support her through the decisions she wants to make. I would die for a rock album, or a funk/disco album, those would be incredible! Even though she made it big as a pop star, we all know that she's more than that. Her roots are in jazz and rock, and I'd love for her to do more of that, especially rock! In fact, I'd love her more if she did a rock album! Rock is a broad genre, like pop, so I think she can be flexible with it, and, I mean, her rock t-shirts and leather jackets are everything 𝔊𝔬𝔬𝔡𝔟𝔶𝔢, ℑ'𝔩𝔩 𝔰𝔢𝔢 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔦𝔫 𝔪𝔶 𝔡𝔯𝔢𝔞𝔪𝔰

Nirvana 2,713
I'd love to see her do a pure rock/metal album But she should do EXACTLY what she wants, I'm still here for whatever music she puts out.

Delulu Rogers 7,298
I'm here for rock or disco as long as it is good. But i doubt it'll have a big impact in music or create a bigger fanbase. Not even her pop albums are doing that well or getting enough exposure, so it'll probably fly under the radar
Smother Em Eh 7,131
As a die hard Little Monster, Yes, I couldn't agree more. The pop music things she has done is really getting old. Her talents go beyond pop! I think with each album she should do music of all genres due the versatility in her voice. She has so much technique, emotion, power, and creativity she could put into much better quality music. A lot of the pop songs she has done, doesn't show her abilities as much, and it annoys the hell out of me. She has the potential to slay in anything from soul music to hard core punk rock! I just wish she will use it to go beyond Pop music which we all know lacks meaning. Get Applause & G.U.Y to 1B views!
Johan Colli 230
I honestly think Joanne will be the transitional album and starts doing things away from mainstream pop from now on obviously mantaining her style, I think it would be a step backwards if after trying new things with Joanne she returned to dance pop music. If anything I really wish to hear one day a disco album by her, give me those Nile Rodgers and Giorgio collabs. And then some Kevin Parker influenced things. I think rock with her would always be glam-rock and we need quality iconic glam-rock these days. I just want her to get her critically acclaimed album tbh. Also since PI video I need to hear at least an EP of a band formed by Gaga, Ronson, Parker and Bloodpop.
Oivind 287
I think she should keep doing what she excels at: Making pop music influenced by other genres. She's always done that, she's just taken it further on Joanne, to the point at which you could argue it's not pop anymore. But the rock influence has always been there. I just don't think she should go all out for one genre, because I like the way she's not bound to conventions for some specific genre. Who cares about genres, anyway? My favorite artist besides her, Faith No More, couldn't be placed in a specific genre either. I hope she keeps doing other things too, though, like the collaboration with Tony Bennett. A collaboration with a rock artist would be cool too. A metal band, perhaps? Or (dare we dream about it?) a collaboration with Bruce Springsteen. I would really love that. But she should keep doing what she does best solo.
He8MyHeart 9,765
There is nothing that she can't do so I'd be happy with any avenue she decides to go down. But I'd need a period of mourning for PopGa before I could move on.
gagzus 15,930
I'm here for her to try new genres on each album, I've always loved that she has put in non-pop in her music like the Dance influence on The Fame & TFM, New Wave on Born This Way, EDM on ARTPOP and now Folk/Rock on Joanne. I want her to do all out Disco, Dance, R&B and Indie Electronica albums though
