Honestly neither commercial success is. I believe that the most important criteria is how the fanbase and the public perceive the piece of work. On another note, can you guys spam the comments section of this guy's videos (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9q-mhYPnj753LLnJg_t3XQ) asking for him to react to Gaga's Sound of Music tribute at the Oscars? He said he would be willing to check out one of her live performances before Joanne, but it needs to have enough requests. He probably thinks she can't sing. Just release videos and do peformances here and there to keep the album relevant still in 2017 and to help with the tour. Send the singles to radio since you never know if they might spin it or not but if mr doesn't become a hit i dont think we will have any single surpassing the top 40 on hot 100 before the next album no matter the song. If radio doesn't support it after that either, the song won't repeak. It will get a gold certification in many countries though, so it's fine.
