I'm 52 years old and I have been a fan of Madonna music since her start, and her bad reputation has always been with her

Um... she was in no competition with Mariah... in terms of commercial success and vocal prowess in the 90s no one could touch Mariah. Also, the two are vastly different in terms of their music, style, and audience

Madonna's real competition was Janet. Madonna was virtually untouched until Janet came along and started to do what Madonna did and, in some instances, better at doing what Madonna does best and in Janet's own unique style. In the end, Madonna prevailed in their competition. Janet lost a lot of star power following the Super Bowl "controversy" #FreeTheNipple

If that were not the case, Madonna and Janet would still be neck in neck in whatever they did. I love both of them but funny how when Madonna releases a softcore ****ographic book called Sex and a sexually explicit album called Erotica, she managed to redeem herself with Ray of Light, but Janet has yet to fully recover from the Super Bowl. Radios literally canceled her single at the time because of the incident and the NFL is still shook about it that apparently she's still blacklisted 10 years later. These double standards though

She really hasn't. She's only had slight beef with Mariah, Gaga and Janet. And the Janet thing was one sided. Janet shaded Madonna. Madonna didn't so sh*t back.

Madonna is usually VERY supportive of the "new" women in pop... Don't forget she supported Gaga at the Fame Ball in 2009 before she hit the big time and did SNL with her and always spoke highly of her until BTW in 2011.
