the fact that the safe gamble on which popularity hinges is no indicator of big names' personal judgement flying over low enough to amuse

If you're approached as a foreigner, it's logical you decline towards a President that spent his entire campaign using them as the blame for the working class' problems. Of course Andrea (Italian) declined, of course Celine (Canadian) declined. Is he going to invite Becky G (Mexican) next? Cause I can tell him her answer already.

No self-respecting foreign-born artist is going to take that gig out of pure principle. And any high profile American-born artist will think about it twice too. They'd have to look at their demographic. Let's face it, a popular country artist would be the best choice. Someone has to perform and they'd probably be the least affected because a high percentage of their sales demographic voted for Trump. But the real A-list mainstream popstars would all be smart to decline since they would suffer a huge backlash by being associated with him.

Of course some X Factor reject that's barely known is the only name confirmed so far, what does she have to loose? She's unknown and this is probably going to be the biggest media attention she's ever had or will have.

I'm surprised they haven't approached Taylor Swift. She's been very mute this election season. Her decline would cost her some fans and her accepting would hurt her career even more. I'd be here for it. :classy: Her silence this past year spoke volumes.

Bette Davis

Why don't they ask Tila Tequila and Azealia to perform together? They're both Trump supporters and neither has a career left to further tarnish :toofunny:

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

Didn't Duck Dynasty support him? I can think of no one more qualified :madge:

They seriously asked Elton? :laughga: The irony, the ignorance.

Mike Pence is a huge fan of Elton.

He's a politician so I guess he's accustomed to hypocrisy. :saladga:

I was just thinking about who's going to accept this gig. One of the first things that I said when Trump won was: "Who's going to sing at his inauguration? Ted Nugent?" I knew getting anyone at all to do this would be tough. Even those who supported him would be too afraid to do it. The only artists who show outward support for Trump are arrogant loudmouths who are desperate for attention and whose careers are hanging on by a thread. While they would obviously be up for it, they're too trashy for the inauguration. Such an event needs respected legends to perform and all the respected legends have enough sense to not support Trump at all, or if they do, keep it secret.

Strangely enough, I was just thinking about Jackie Evancho. She's a really talented opera singer at such a young age. But to think the poor girl's career could be tarnished by this is too horrible to contemplate. I was going to listen to her gorgeous rendition of O Holy Night to get in the Christmas mood. It's all ruined now!
