So why not do something new with her instruments

Because there's no reason for that..

Amy didn't invent a new sound with her instruments and music, it was just her voice and the instruments.. if she was and still praised for that, why Gaga can be praised too? because it "Gaga"?

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Well Gaga said she always wants to push the boundaries musically so of course she wanted her music to have impact/sound new whether that be 'country folk talking to rock folk' etc.

I don't think Joanne was so much as commentary on the industry and autotune. I think it's about her life more. However I do think sonically it's fresh (mostly).

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

Dorothy Gale

With ARTPOP, Gaga was making songs by using pre-existing beats  and adding vocals on top, while with Joanne every song bar Perfect Illusion began on paper.

I LOVED ARTPOP as an album musically however it's concept not so much. I wish she had called it 'Aura'.

If executed properly it could've worked it just felt really odd to me that it was all about bringing art into pop culture and promoting her fans creativity. With little to nothing to back that up. A few  Bottecili's Venus references and a gif maker didn't cut it.

Joanne thematically at least feels more genuine and the more stripped down music matches it.
