Squeeshy Keety 9,909
Why do there have to be so many threads trying to assess the quality of the era based on a single video (that I personally love)? I was relieved when the childish meltdowns ended, but I would have expected more faith in the future of the era by now And, might I add, visuals do not have to be so flashy and in your face to be impactful. The AMA performance carries a strong message if you look past the lack of burning pianos in giant glass boxes. Gaga might not please all her fans, but she is clearly trying to play with the subtleties of her art form. It may take time to refine the low profile visuals after a flying dress and being puked on for ARTPOP, but I believe in her ability to evolve in more ways than some of you (not necessarily the OP) give her credit for. Oivind 287
It's easy for me, because I listen to all kinds of music. I actually discovered Lady Gaga quite recently (this summer). It's strange: I discovered her through her old music, which is the kind of pop music I once thought I would never become a fan of, and once I had become a fan, she released an album with a kind of music I have always listened to. Anyway, that's obviously not a problem for me, although I can see why some fans miss her old electronic dance-pop music. Especially younger fans, I imagine (I'm 43, so I suspect I'm older than most fans here).

If you look at the charts right now, you're going to see lots of stupid songs with stupid lyrics and bad vocals. And then you look at what Gaga is doing, and you love that, because it's real. do we always have to put other artists down? It's really sad how fans need to bring other artists down and diminish their work just so they can claim that Gaga is better. And when Gaga sings shallow sexy lyrics, then it's all amazing, and she's just having fun etc.

Not even mentioned their names. It's just a statement.

As an old fan, what I miss is the huge figure she used to be, with all the fashion, theatrics and artistic performances. I don't really think she needs to go back to that, because she's changed during the last two years. Whether the fans need to like it or not, that's their problem. It's stupid when they say we are not real fans just because we don't agree with her direction
