Did the ARTPOP backlash destroy Gaga her creativity?

I vaguely remember her being very outspoken about how much she cared about critics. So she was not honest after all?

(I'm not trying to be say you're right or wrong, I'm just creating discussion. But I do think Gaga has revealed how dishonest she can be about everything she says and do. And I wish she would just tell the truth, as bad as it might be, because apparently she can't sustain her statements for too long)

Oh, she has definitely contradicted herself a lot throughout her career, which makes me wonder if she's okay mentally (right now at least).

We get it, you're PISSED because you didn't get what YOU wanted (this also applies to all the Little Meltdowners who still haven't stopped their meltdowns). Why complain about not getting a video then complain because you got, even if it wasn't what you wanted? She's not done, you're just done with her because she's doing something you don't and others don't like

I never thought Joanne would be so polarizing as an era, Gaga is finally moving on from the past, something we all should be doing regarding her career. What's past is past; if she continued how she did in her past, she'd either be dead, overwrought, or horribly depressed. Gaga's finally seen that she should put herself first, especially in front of fans who pull these kinds of stunts on a regular basis :madge:

I feel like she's dying to let out CrazyGa but has to continue her commitment to her 'normal' Joanne ways for the moment.

I pray this is the case

It felt a bit forced. Sorry i dont think was good acting 😐

but hey all the GP seem to love it and if Gaga likes it, then its not as bad as some make it out to be. As long as shes happy :)

I still dont like the video tho, her happiness wont change that :neyde:

How was there even a backlash during ARTPOP? Did something major happen that I missed?

Ummm, thats when everyone said she was over and at that point she had the worst reputation ever for being desperate

She had that rep during BTW was well but at least she was popular still. In ARTPOP she had a desperate reputation why her popularity was declining

Anyway, im sure it wasnt an easy era for her

I dont, I prefer this era to any other. I want her to stay simple. She is so happy right now and I love that she is happy! I love the music video because it shows her a chapter in her life and some of what she went through.

She doesnt need any costumes like previous eras to stand out. Her MV doesnt need to go crazy. She is showing her creativity in other ways. You all need to grow up. What did you expect from the video - guitars shooting flames? Give me a break. The video was a beautiful video of her and what she went through.

no, but she destroyed her own team

Laurien Gibson, Joseph Khan, RedOne, Fusari, Troy Carter...

so the magic is gone :duck:

No  If she had lost her creativity she we have wouldn't created and directed the masterpiece of G.U.Y. + Perfect Illusion. The only reason :sure: ) why Million Reasons is her worst video is because she didn't give a fck about visuals and make justice for the song. She was lazy, imo :laughga:

If anything, I think she's just trying to reinforce the persona and aesthetic of Joanne, which is to bring people together through some sort of common Americana medium.

While it turned out amazing with the music (top 3 of her best albums, imo), it's honestly underwhelming with the correlating visuals, considering she was one of the most artistic and boundary-pushing pop artists in the last few years.

Like, of course her looks and videos come across as palatable and appealing to many people who are non-fans. The Million Reasons video is probably gonna be eaten up by the common middle American, or something.

It's just really boring, after everything we got from her first four albums (and even Cheek to Cheek, which was overall more exciting).

To be fair, I'm at least happy she's cut out people who have drained her. I'd rather have a happy and musically creative Gaga then a depressed, overworked Gaga.

Plus, she still works with RedOne on occasion. You say this like she hasn't done good things without the people you have stated.

Wait, are you serious? Not ripping on you, I'm genuinely asking.

ARTPOP had nearly everybody sh*tting on her, and unfairly so. It became cool to be awful to her.

1. She seems more depressed than never before...

2. Her choreos since Laurien G. left sucks (except for Applause)

3. She doesn't use RedOne since 2011

4. Her work with them was way better than her work without them

Beautiful Dirt

Just a question - a lot of you guys seem to be mentioning about how GP loves this new visuals and it is making her more likeable after ARTPOP. But where are you getting this from? All that I've heard from various people at uni has been anything but positive. Most people I've spoken to find her current persona boring, our uni magazine got scolded for giving MR 1 star review (as it apparently was too much), she didn't even make it onto our student radio, and as someone put it, the general opinion is "what happened to the times when Lady Gaga was exciting?". When my flatmate told me he watched the video yesterday, I asked him what he thought and his answer was that he can't even remember it.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't want to be negative or anything. I'm genuinely curious as to why does everyone keep saying that this is supposed to make her GP friendly again.
