All-in-all I think whatever backlash is here is just due to fans having expectations that Gaga is purposefully going against. simple as that.

I think Gaga is doing what she wants right now. We all remember how amazing Born This Way was and everything about it. But then we learned that Gaga was not happy and that she felt used as a money making machine. She learned to say no because she didn't want to go to bed feeling like she didn't know the person in the mirror, etc.

As much as we love over the top Gaga, I think she's not in that place anymore. She's just doing different things right now. Gaga is a very interesting person and artist and we all have seen that she not the typical Popstar that releases the same type of music just to be on the radio. I guess she did in the past, but not anymore. I'm just okay right now because I see her happy.

We all go through tough **** in life. Should she learn not to let critics affect her? Yeah. Is that a very easy process? No, especially after all she's been through.

She hasn't lost her drive, she's lost everything but that. She lost her manager, who was giving her a hard time; she lost friends; she lost fans; she has lost everything but her creativity, and it's sad to see some people think she has.

Just because she's not wearing a meat suit, or doesn't have horns on her face, or isn't wearing a "CAUTION" tape around herself doesn't mean she's lost her creativity. Her music/art doesn't need to have a existential, higher-up meaning, which is the whole point of Joanne.

I vaguely remember her being very outspoken about how much she cared about critics. So she was not honest after all?

 

(I'm not trying to be say you're right or wrong, I'm just creating discussion. But I do think Gaga has revealed how dishonest she can be about everything she says and do. And I wish she would just tell the truth, as bad as it might be, because apparently she can't sustain her statements for too long)

Creativity isn't just dressing in crazy fashion or making big statements with her videos, her creativity is whatever she wants to create. I feel like a lot of people here just want her to act like the gay superstar icon they want her to be. She thought this video out, she put her feelings and emotions into it regardless of how simple it is, that's being creative, she creates everything she puts out.
