Finding the Story of MR VIDEO

Here's me trying to find a story with Joanne:

She gives us a raw, natural performance and gains the attention of the ENTIRE crowd. She changes up her outfit and continues the slayage. But then runs away. The illusion possibly being the Fame? Are we to understand she didn't like the fame? or didn't like the performance? (PI)

She's on the ground reflecting her entire illusion. She's still in her "normal" outfit. The crew/friends find her, and take her back to...The Stage? We get a completely over the top Gaga with full on makeup, wig, custom hat/outfit/guitar. She performs over a box, possibly to indicate how the industry tries to put her. The song reflects over and over about finding a reason to stay. To stay where? on the box or the PI stage? The story continues...

The editing may be bad and the acting may be forced but overall it's a great video. :classy:

It feels like we're in 2011 all over again with TEOG music video when I was the only one who liked it and everyone else hated it. :saladga:

what is left to like? :creepflop:

The imagery and the rawness of Gaga's feelings, plus the storyline, after watching the video multiple times and watching PI music video, I discovered & understood some things which I didn't even know before.

I mean... there is a story there. An incomplete one (and not terribly compelling given we're two whole videos down) but it's there. She had a breakthrough with Perfect Illusion (the illusion being either the grind or a bad relationship) and escaped to wrestle with those feelings, and Million Reasons was the comedown, where she's collecting the pieces and getting back to her life. You can say a bad relationship made her go rogue, or the pop lifestyle that she's sick and tired of. Perfect Illusion could certainly use a prequel to frame why or how she wound up driving off-course to deal with her anger.

My personal gripe with the video isn't the story but the execution. There were some massive direction/editing faux pas throughout. Bad cuts, repeated frames, over-acting, stalling moments, unnecessary cutaways, bad lighting. It tells me either her team was cut for time or the thing was put together sort of haphazardly. Definitely not up to snuff with her previous work. Perfect Illusion may be a claustrophobic video but it's very well done, and complements the song. Here's hoping she releases many more videos that can give this storyline more oomph, it has the potential to be quite good but the execution needs to be there.

Locking this because this should've been a post in the thread about the MV :noparty: They're great ideas and we're open to sharing them but if everyone's posting their thoughts and opinions on the MV as threads then there's no point in having "main" threads at all, and we'd totally lose a chunk of forum structure :omg:
