Chart Discussion: Joanne / Million Reasons

Diamond Heart would flop, it's too loud just like Perfect Illusion. Dancin' In Circles is perfect. It's tropical, trendy, and would be a global summer hit. Also I can see it being a streaming hit. She should get a rapper in the bridge so that part is blocked out of the radio. A-YO would flop, no one would be here for it.

False.

G.U.Y. flopped because the era was already dead. The video was too long for the GP to watch it.

MTN underperformed because Gaga was beyond overexposed by November 2011. She delivered hit after hit 3 years in a row, radios refused to play her due to constant exposition. Video's lenght didn't help. (I wouldn't change it tho. Is great. Quality >> quantity)

Judas underperformed because it was released on Easter, which was a horrible marketing / controversy move; it was a streaming hit anyway.

With PI, on the other hand, i can agree. That song is too loud. But i can't see it in G.U.Y., MTN or Judas. She's singing in those, while in PI she's literally screaming.

False :gaycat:

Judas didn't flop because of easter. It's rediculous to think the song bombed just because of that. That song is the definition of loud agressive music.

MTN flopped because it isn't radio friendly at all and people were getting tired of her. If she released a less uptempo song as last single it would've done better

I agree the era was dead by the time G.U.Y was released, but everyone was aware of that. She needed a song to revive the era. G.U.Y was definately not the right song to do that. The beat is way to agressive and the chorus to repetitieve.

I do like all those songs, but they are not radio friendly.

Oh and those who are coming for people who said MR was the best single choice, it still is. No other song, except maybe  Joanne, could've stayed two weeks in the top 10 on iTunes without airplay or streaming. No one could've known that they wouldn't add the song to  spotify playlists or give her some good radio AirPlay. People who think DH, DIC or JW could've pulled that off after PI flopped are a bit delusional imo

Before there was love, there was silence

You said MR sounds like a hit and DH doesn't. Clearly MR ain't a hit. So what you hear doesn't reflect what's gonna chart good or not. Besides, all the predictions we've made for Gaga since MTN were mostly wrong. We're not very good at predicting her charting:saladga:

Its not MR fault that it good that horrible video. Every performance showed that it is hit material, having the same effect as other hits without having radio support.

I don't think MR would've taken off even with a decent video, tbh. It did raise sales-wise after each performance and then it started falling. The song is tanking on streaming, there's a reason for that

Gypsy Life

Yall talking about the 3rd single when we ain't getting one until April. Save this conversation for 3 months from now when MR is spending its last week at #1.

A good video would have help streaming.  Every song of her will have problem with streaming, especially if radio doesnt help.

Idk but if the radio keeps growing until february and a perfomance of MR at the SB will give it a top 10 on Billboard

It did go to #7 so you were wrong regardless

Before plummeting to the 30s. Trust me, it'll even out to essentially little impact. You were suggesting it'd slay and hang in the top 5.
