Nicole 1,809 Posted December 15, 2016 Share Posted December 15, 2016 This fan base has definitely adopted a sense of entitlement, in that Gaga must please us left right and center and if she goes astray from our expectations the product in question is automatically trash and doesn't deserve to be praised at all. If anyone listened to Gaga at all, they'd know that this video isn't about the visuals. it's about sharing a part of her that we've never seen before. I recall not too long ago people were complaining she wasn't relatable enough, and now she's ready to do that and now it's not good enough. Gaga never said this was going to be the music video of the century. She never hyped it beyond any expectations, the fans created the expectations out of nothing. The release wasn't some big event in Times Square - she knows it's not her best music video in terms of visuals etc and was released relatively quietly on MTV, but the song itself and the personal touches throughout the video makes it truly special both for her and the fans that appreciate it. Not liking the video is fine, but endlessly trashing it beyond necessity is just immature - especially when you talk about YOUR needs/wants, and just demonstrates the sense of entitlement among this fanbase. She's not a pop goddess that came down to serve us whenever we want to be entertained. We still will put Gaga to high standards and call her out when her work is bad. For the sake of her and pop music. RIP MR video. The song and its meaning will live on its own though. Not everybody is gonna like it and that's ok. Everybody has the right to their own opinion but to be just downright nasty to her is just uncalled for. She's done so much for us just because she loves us dearly. I think we monsters take that for granted sometimes I love you monsters. It's always: she does something good --> praise --> does something that gets a lot of public attention --> praise --> does something that divides the fan base --> all of a sudden people split off into different sections. I'm annoyed this the constant hammering at Gaga's direction and what she and her team chooses to do. I completely agree, she owes us nothing. If you're not satisfied with something, you're completely entitled to that, but calling her lazy, saying that this video was sh*t, etc. etc. doesn't promote the positive things that Gaga has always been trying to promote. I hate to say this, I really do, because I don't really have any right to, but some Monsters just need to go. It's certainly not that they're unwanted, but it's just that the constant complaining and the constant bashing of what she's doing can't happen when you're on a forum dedicated to her. It's not about having to like what she does, but it's more about, why continue to be a fan when all you're going to do is complain and not like her?
