I get where you're coming from, but what we're used to (like what you're describing) without a doubt cost a lot of money to achieve when you're Lady Gaga, certainly to levels we'd expect. I think she is struggling, I think song is actually describing what is going on right now with this reaction to the video. People expect so much of her and can be vicious when she doesn't meet the standards. Maybe this can be her 1,000,001 reason to quit the show.

LOVE the video! I think the reason why most monsters don't care for it is because we have seen her this vulnerable before so it's not as personal to us as it is to the GP.  Watch it again and really focus on her state of mind.  Your heart will break for her.  Almost cried watching it again a few hours later. I love you Gaga!

Gaga is lost. PI and MR are mediocre videos. Joanne is a great album but when she releases that kinda of low quality video it makes Joanne looks trash. I feel for her. People around her, including Bobby, should help her but it seems they're all locked in a dream where PI mv has received over 300M views already.

I was expecting something very personal and laid back and that's what she delivered. I can't believe people don't like the music video. It is beautifully done and she looks amazing! Great job, Gags!

I would understand if her videos just kind of plateaued and we're just on par with her peers. But these Joanne videos are trying so hard to be relatable and "raw" it's making Katy Perry's Teenage Dream seem like it actually had depth. 😨

Where is Lady Gaga? I understand evolving. What I don't understand is settling. And whether she wants to give some brilliant explanation for why she is doing this or not, the fact is that it's not just the general public that is abandoning her: it's also a majority of her own fans. 

Fans that are poor and still saved hundreds of dollars just to see her.

Fans who embraced her Born This Way message as something that was worth living for. 

Fans who only want her to be successful because they believe her being at the top is better than another manufactured act being at the top.

Fans who have loyally supported her since 2009.

And now......these fans are walking away. I've visited GagaDaily since 2010 and just finally created an account yesterday out of anticipation for what could have been a really personal amazing video........now.....I'm already considering deleting my account. Along with many other fans just leaving alltogether.

She's going to have to face that. It's like she wants to prove she doesn't care about attention. Who ****ing cares what people think Gaga? Go for the attention! It's why your own fans like you. Own it!

If you don't care what people think Gaga, then you don't overcompensate your craziness from the past by reinventing into something bland in the future. You just stay yourself.

 

This my friends, is the most inauthentic un-Lady-Gaga-like work (if you could call it that) yet. I hate saying that.

From a film making/technical/narrative  perspective, it's pretty disappointing. Three different treatments that had no Visual link. It seems like they shot a bts of PI, added scenes from a scrapped Apple commercial (best part of the video) and some random B&W scene of her getting her makeup done and receiving a gift. I get that PI video was a metaphor for losing her fans/taylor and MR video is about finding solace within and acceptance but the video doesn't have a strong exposition on why the gift was meaningful.

She could've just reused her AMA set and that would have been infinitely better.

After PI (which i loved), this is just ... meh.

Disappointment after disappointment. I'd have never thought I'd see the day when artists that I'd consider mediocre are putting out better videos than Gaga. If she doesn't get it together soon, there's not much to stick around for.
