GUESS: Million Reasons MV Is About The Music Industry

Not The Real Gaga

I notice a lot of people don't really mention it, but to me Million Reasons has always sounded more like a song about someone contemplating, thinking about suicide and praying to God to help them in that moment just before ending their life and then just before committing that final act, God sends them a reason to keep on going, to keep on living. Kind of like Till It Happens To You 2.0, the person has reached the end of the rope and is seeking some type of answer to help them keep going on. And the way Lady Gaga speaks about suicide, to me it sounds like she's been in that dark place not just when she was younger but very recently as well.

What if the Million Reasons Music Video, the sequel of the Perfect Illusion video, is actually about Gaga and her view towards the music industry nowadays. Read below to get to know my thoughts about it.

First: Did Gaga already drop some hints in the Perfect Illusion lyrics?

Perfect Illusion may refer to her negative experiences in the music industry, like "Tryin' to keep controle. Pressure's takin' its toll. Stuck in the middle zone." Of course, we know that the song is about love, but maybe some lines have a double meaning. Could those lines above also mean something like this: Gaga's expierence with making ARTPOP, having not enough creative freedom while making her work, her feeling forced to do things she actually doesn't like to do, BUT at the same time feeling the pressure of creating top selling hits (despite the famous line in ARTPOP (the song): "music, not the bling"), if it's not for her, than it's for all the people behind her ("the industry").

Interviews and Music Video clues

Recently, Gaga talked a lot about this subject during interviews. Strongly saying that her new album Joanne is really about herself, her family and her life... An album, almost completely made as an "independent artist" (she finally got more freedom to make the things she wanted to make).

The Perfect Illusion Music Video also contains some strong and obvious references towards performing arts, feeling bad/depressed, her connection with the music and her fans. Driving lonely in the desert, seeking rest, trying to avoid the still ongoing pressure.

What's in the teaser?

In the teaser for the Million Reasons Music Video, we see three black SUV's cars driving. MAYBE is this a reference to the music industry, which want to take back control of her, which is going to force her AGAIN to do whatever they want her to do.

She has got a hundred Million Reasons to walk away (to quite the music industry, because of all her negative expierences with it), but she just needs one good one to stay (the positive things: her passion for music, and her loyal fans)

So, just guessing. We just have to wait to get the answer, finally........

:diane:

Some people think the "hundred million reasons" means the money she has made as well, the hundreds of millions of dollars she's made, like she is more than comfortable financially, and if she wanted to she could stop right now and never make music again, but she's found a good one to stay in music - fans, the passion for her work, etc etc, to keep making it and going on in the business, even though it can be extremely hard to do so.

I agree with you. I think it will have a very similar theme to the GUY video except I think it will be more literal. I hope the video is revealing.

The businessmen have come to destroy her peace she has found in the desert and are going to drag her back to the city and make her work and give up that peace of mind. Will she abide by their rules or refuse and do her own thing? OOH, only a few hours until we see.

holy scheisse

If it is I'm over it cause that's what guy was about. if it is, thats super disappointing cause she is so good when she's exploring ideas other than her own fame and her own fall from grace and her own victimhood in the music business. So i hope it's not.
