Today it kinda hit me when I was listening to some jazz (Fitzgerald mostly), that it's hard... I don't know, to see Gaga up there ever with being an important jazz singer?

Don't get me wrong, her jazz voice is amazing. And I'm sure in the next 10 years it'll improve so much, probably legendary worthy. But it's not her voice that irks me, nor is it the way she presents herself physically, but it's her name.

She has such a beautiful name (especially last name), and it sounds legend worthy. It's so easy to imagine "Armstrong, Sinatra, Fitzgerald, Bennett, Germanotta..." but replaced with Gaga? Eh.

I wouldn't mind if she ever changed her stage name (or at least her jazz/actress name) to her actual name. Maybe people would be able to look past the whole "the girl who wore a meat dress" thing. Idk. Would you guys mind?

Well, Wendy Williams, a.k.a the only relevant source on this forum, already calls her Stefani Geramatto, which officially makes this a non-issue.

Am I the only one who has never felt irked by the name "Lady Gaga". I've seen criticism about that since 2009, but honestly I think her name is quirky but somehow elegant. Idk. It's strange but there's a level of class with it

REALITY

I see where you're coming from.

But, I actually don't really see her becoming a huge jazz singer in the future. I think she'll do jazz here and there, and I think that she'll definitely create more jazz albums, but I don't really see her hitting it big in that realm, and maybe that's in part, due to the fact that she was once that girl who wore a meat dress.

That said, anything can happen, and Gaga herself in an unpredictable person, so, who's to say really? However, to address the point, I think the name "Lady Gaga" is quite classy and elegant actually, yet, at the same time, fierce and dominating.

From a logistical standpoint as well, it just wouldn't make sense either. She's built herself up as "Lady Gaga", literally one of the most creative and out-there names in the music industry, it's something unique and special to her. I don't think she'd change it.

I kind of agree.

I want her to go back to pop music though and only do jazz sometimes.  So with that I don't think she will he considered a jazz great like those names that devoted themselves only to jazz, and I'm fine that she doesn't.

I highly doubt she's going to be remembered as a jazz singer :emma: She can release 93 more jazz albums, win every single Grammy for jazz until 2076, and bring Ella Fitzgerald back to life, and she would still be remembered as "that chick who wore the meat dress. Hey, remember her? Pa-pa-pa-poker face! lol wat happened 2 her"

I agree, that meat dress will forever haunt her

But because of her name "Lady Gaga" she'll never be old-fashioned in Jazz. It's new and unique, almost revolutionary if you ask me.
She cannot be put in any box and she proves that also a pop artist from the 2000s performs on the same level as those Jazz legends.

I wouldn't mind if she walked on the stage to sing some jazz and said "My name is Lady Gaga but, just for tonight, call me...Stefani :gaycat:"

I'm fine is she ever changes to her real name but I don't think she would. Even when she's performing in he 70's, I bet she'll still be known as Lady Gaga.

Well, that is what you think, and that's OK

But for me, that is the opportunity for her to stand out even more.

That among these normal names, we have one that is so different and even peculiar.
