Death Note 2017

Quite frankly the film is set in America, so whitewashing isn't an issue. Especially less-so when the second male lead is played by a black man.

The basic premise isn't really good enough, since it becomes more about Light's god/messiah complex as times goes on. The story isn't really about the Death Note, but Light's prerogatives, his volition.

It isn't really a horror. I guess it's considered thriller, but it's hard to classify such things.

However, most American adaptations of Japanese anime/manga suck. Not to mention, Death Note has become an embarrassing footnote in this generation's times as it is considered one of the many weeab animes of our time despite it having an excellant story.

I said I know only know the basic premise; Adam, the producers, and the writers have to had to do research and read the manga and/or watch the anime. I'm sure they're prepared

Plus the production company behind this adaptation have remade/adapted many other Asian films with many of them turning into successes.

I think I know I will be let down by this one.

Just like I did to these Ringu and Ju-On sequels and prequels that kept spawning cos it doesn't make sense anymore, or like I did with Attack on Tian live action which are total fcking BS directed by a fcking tool who changes everything for the sake of doing it and be different.. :neyde:

Attack on Titan is one of the few animes that could've had an american adaptaion without screwing everything up.

But instead Japan took it and changed most of the cast.

Manga and anime need to stop having live action adaptations.

They're not remaking Asian films though.

Anime and manga have a bad habit of turning to sh!t in live action adaptations.

And this is by American AND Japanese producers. Most anime/manga fans don't even need fingers to tell you the amount of decent live action adaptations because there are none.

Ya, so far I was only satisfied with Battle Royale, Ichi The Killer, BECK and Kenshin live action. The rest are either decent or beyond horrible.

There are new Death Note this year, and I don't even bother watching

Variety reported that Warner Bros., the distributors for the original Japanese live-action films, had acquired the rights for an American remake.

Eh? I don't effing mind if it is adapted in English. We already have the manga, anime and japanese movie adaptation, which are all fantastic (*on Trump's accent*),  new adaptation won't hurt.

Calm your tits.

I'm just not trying to sell the movie, I was just making a point.

I don't have background with either Ghost In The Shell or Death Note, so I can't say how true/faithful either adaptation/remake will stay to the source material. But I don't think it's entirely fair to pass complete judgment on the project while it's in production, without seeing a trailer at least.

I saw the trailer for Ghost In the Shell and it looks very interesting and cool, but I'm sure fans of series who watched the trailer, disliked some of the changes or didn't like it at all. So it's in the same boat as the upcoming Death Note movie.

Lanius

The trailer was just released and people were upset about L being black but didn't care that everybody else was white:reductive:
