She is lucky. Madonna was diagnosed with an illness and doctors said she didn't have long to live. But that was around the Ray of Light era I think.

I understand what she was trying to say, it could have been worded better though :oprah:

Yeah, pretty much this. Not the best choice of words

But as a fan of Michael's (and those of you that know me know how much that means) I'm not bothered. I know she means no harm

You're stinky

I don't get why did she say that. It sounds pretentious af

bc she thinks she's the only living legends left. she's so smug it's actually annoying.

mariah is still here, stevie is still here, and how tf is amy winehouse placed in the same category as michael and david bowie? as talented as she was she has one hit album and not even a decade on her belt. it's just another way for her to brag abt her 'status' and it comes off as really desperate.

PLEASE MADONNA STANS DON'T GET ANNOYING BY REPLYING TO ALL OF THOSE WHO BASH MADONNA, just read my post and move on!!!

---------------------------------------

When a Madonna thread has more replies in such a short time in a fansite that's supposed to be dedicated to her newer "rival" than any other thread about that artist, says a lot about STICKING AROUND AFTER 34 YEARS IN DEED!!! :reductive:

I must admit that speech came off a little too wrong, but if you listen to it fully it did NOT have bad intentions, she even gave a sense of sadness when metioning all of those names!

And even if she had said it in a bitchy way, she'd be right. TO BE HONEST, a lot people in that list died because they couldn't overcome their ****. Madonna has been through a lot of ****, and she's still put through it (THIS SITE IS ABIG EXAMPLE OF THAT) and she still overcomes it.

Madonna might not be the most talented person in the world, or the most humble person in the world but she sure works her ass off and does alot more for others than anyone who's bashing here would ever do for their mother!

Some people say TALENT always wins....

I say talent is something you're granted by nature, and HARD- WORK is something YOURSELF put effort on... so actually...

HARD WORK ALWAYS WINS!

And this is whys Madonna is Billboard's woman of the year, and this is why she is the biggest selling female artist of all time. CONGRATULATIONS ON THAT! :applause:

And thank all of you in this thread for contributing to that, because the more she pushes people's buttons, the more she gets talked about for doing what's politically wrong, the more she gets misunderstood for speaking her mind... the further she goes into history books!!!

Spoiler

Look at the same old users bashing Madonna and liking posts that have any negative connotaton about Madonna... IT IS LAUGHABLE!!! :air:

Just because Amy isn't as well known as Madonna, Jackson, or Stevie doesn't mean she's not a legend, and hits really don't mean anything. Amy Winehouse had this unique voice and talent that others still can't rival today, even in her death.

Misworded IN DEED... But no disrespect, on the other contrary the way she said it was very moving. But obviously people will try to drag Madonna for anything!

if someone is the biggest star of their generation and their society, then they are also the product of that very society and all its negative aspects... Madonna's fame is a product of ageism - she didn't become a huge star when she was 50, but when she was 24-25 and she replaced some stars who were too old. Now she's complaining because she can no longer benefit from the negativity of the very society that helped her build her career. The same goes for Gaga and everyone who made it big.

Not to to mentioned how many times Madonna backed out and tamed her image after big controversies or went back to commercial pop hits wearing leotards after supposedly political albums flopped.

She - and every other major star - is a product of this society's positive and negative aspects, and none of them have any right to complain. This evil world has made you who you are, so shut up.

I'm not disagreeing with you purely for the sake of it but your very wrong actually. How old are you just out of interest? Madonna didn't replace anyone, she inadvertently created her own lane in the 80's. A lane now that is filled to the brim, with people just like Gaga inhabiting that lane with her. In the words of her own record company 'there were no white female artists making dance/rnb  music on the charts' at the time she arrived in 1982. Madonna was the first female artist to sell 5 million copies of one album (Like a Virgin) she was the first female artist to fill a stadium and embark on a stadium tour (yes before Tina and Cyndi). In Australia she was the only female artist to sell out a stadium tour and held that record for 22 years until Taylor Swifts 1989 Tour.

Madonna came up in a much sociologically healthier climate. There were mature artists like Bette Midler, Cher, Barbara Streisand, Diana Ross and Tina Turner going strong in the 70's, 80's and 90's selling millions of records. This shift against artists of a certain age has for the most part come about and become more prevalent in the last decade. In the past we aloud our female artists to age and still release records and be successful, you only have to do the research to see it. Let's not forget that Cher had her most successful single and album in her 50's with Believe and Madonna had a huge surge in popularity at 40 with Ray of Light and then her most successful single at 47 with Hung up. Even Kylie was selling a lot of records in her late thirties, early fourties. Her biggest hit, Can't Get You Out of My Head didn't arrive until she was in her mid 30's. It seems to be this generation of millennials for whatever reason, that has completely rejected the idea of the mature artist. I don't have the answer as to why. In this day and age it would seem preposterous to see a 47 year old having a worldwide number one hit. Society didn't throw vitriol at older female artists back then as they do know. Hell does anyone remember Cher in that Turn Back Time outfit surrounded by sailors with her ass on show at 47 or Tina Turner in a skimpy mini skirt and heels on stage in her 60's? Society didn't vilify and slander them, they were praised as sexy, bold and strong. Why is Madonna at 58 (and dressed in a whole lot more nowadays than they were at her age) such a threat? Is it because she still has her looks? Is it because she still makes contemporary music and can call on Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and Britney Spears and they will drop everything to support her onstage for a charity gig, a duet in a concert or a collaboration on a Diplo track? Is it because she's still sexy and dares to flaunt her body which could compete with the body of any fit 30 something year old?

Ageism has always been around yes, but her career certainly isn't the product of it. Would you reduce Gaga's career and accomplishments to being the pure result of ageism and only ageism? Michael Jackson's? Elvis Presley's? Prince's? You wouldn't dare. Madonna is now exploring unchartered territory for a female pop icon. How does one maintain a culturally relevant career into their 60's in the face of so much vitriol? Why do millenials for the most part hate her so much. She has her older detractors as she always has but the vocal majority are those in their teens and 20's who know nothing about pop culture that actually take the time out of their lives to attack her on her own Instagram, young whipper snapper music critics who slaughter her in reviews of her music and performances when they have very little knowledge of pop culture or music before the year 2000 and 16 year old's that call her old, ugly and a hasbeen in music forums? Where is respect gone in this day and age? Do you tell your parents that they are old, ugly and are hasbeens? Do you want your grandparents to just disappear and die because they are of a certain age? I'm so confused by all this behaviour. I think we should respect human beings for continuing to lead a full life as they get older. I'm 30 now and I often wonder how I'm going to handle getting older. I don't know about any of you but I fully intend to remain fit, healthy and reasonably attractive for as long as possible. Not for anyone else but for myself. As a gay male these things are important to me and I'm sure to a lot of you also. We put a lot of extra pressure on ourselves because a lot of us won't get the chance to be married and have kids like a conventional couple and then retire and watch them grow up. I'm definately not going to be a seedy old guy having to pay for sex or become a sugar daddy because I'm undesirable and unable to attract a partner. I'm going to lead a full life and make the most of it. It's for these reasons that I especially don't like seeing what Madonna is going through. We are all going to age. I think we should be supporting and respecting her because she's currently laying the foundations for what's to be considered normalfor someone of a certain age for a generation to come. Just like she did in her 40's when she continued to sell millions of records and sell out tours.

Make the most of your life. It's not a crime.

LOL, I get her point, people should stop bashing her and praising her now that she is still alive. Don't wait til she is gone, start recognizing her work.

Too bad you're never so consistenly interested in all those talented people... I'd say this sentence says a lot more about YOU, than what it's implied to say about MADONNA! :reductive:
