Nicole 1,809
I said this in another thread, it's completely okay to be pro-life for your own circumstances, but those views should not forced upon everyone. These laws won't stop abortions. it'll increase botched abortions and self-induced abortions (anyone heard of the 'coat hanger' method?) and threaten both mother and baby. If abortions were illegal - at any stage - the financial welfare system would be stretched beyond its resources because someone who isn't capable of raising a child are being forced to do so if they are not comfortable with adoption. The child welfare system would be stretched of its resources, housing more foster kids who were put up for adoption willingly AND more of those who are taken away from their mother from family welfare services due to the lack of adequate care they are receiving. There would be an increase in homeless babies and children. pregnancy is 40 weeks long. That's 10 months. Not every pregnancy is a smooth easy ride. There is morning sickness - that can last the entire pregnancy. There's gestational diabetes, your life is literally put on hold. There's pre-eclampsia. Whether it was one drunken night or the product of rape or just reckless unprotected sex, no woman should be forced to carry a child they do not want, or are not ready to have, for 40 weeks - just to have it stripped away. Nobody has a right to decide on my behalf if a baby is going to live inside me and depend on me, affecting my entire future. There is no guarantee that en embryo is going to eventually be born. So many fertilized embryos detach naturally and sometimes women don't even know they are pregnant when that happens. 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. How does that data reflect a guarantee that an embryo is going to be born? My mother had 4 miscarriages and fortunately was able to have 5 kids of her own regardless, but where are those other babies? Wait... because a pregnancy doesn't guarantee a baby.
