To me, Merkel is doing this to get some far right votes, because she knows people are upset after the wave of immigration. Other than that there is NO reason to ban the burqa. For example if safety is used, seriously how is it going to be put in practice. A bunch of cops around checking if people have covered face and then fining them? If someone wants to commit a crime do you really think they are going to care about such ban? No they won't, they'll just find another way to commit the crime. So here we also have to look at how effective is a law especially when it limits personal freedom.

So basically the reason here is purely ideological. If western countries pride themselves as being free, democratic and where there is no discrimination towards citizen no matter their background and religion then this is BS. It doesn't hold together, it's as simple as that. the people against the burqa are as bigoted as the ones they accuse of religious extremism.

The average Syrian is not wearing any kind of burqa. Most burqa wearing people in Germany radicalized themselves. They mostly come from families who don't wear burqas.

And I'm sure Merkel is also against any kind of religious extremism. But currently islamic extremism is the one which kills. Btw Germany also has a problem with Reichsbürger which is a far right organization who don't recognize the federal republic of Germany but recognize the German empire before WW1. And Merkel is against them and there are laws against them. 

Religious extremism shouldn't have a place here. No matter what religion. Period.

What is the relation with Syrian? I know that Syrian don't wear the burqa. Why do you bring this up? Usually the burqa is a south asian thing so mostly Afghanistan and so on. How do you know they radicalize themselve and that the burqa is a direct sign of this? 

Ok but is Merkel showing the same devotion against other form of religious extremism. Furthermore this isn't an argument used by her , but by you and that's why I explained to you above why I don't think this argument makes sense in the context of Germany. I don't see the connection with the far right organization. 

You still didn't define what religious extremism is according to you and what should be the limit. I can consider the Hassid of my neighborhoud extremists if I want, but it doesn't change the fact that, their lifestyle does not affect me nor my safety. It is the same with the burqa. As long as someone is not causing problem in public space or a threat to others why should we restrict their freedom? And also this isn't an argument used by Merkel. The one she uses is that we should communicate face to face without covering it. This is one of the most stupid reason I found, I don't see why this should be a law, because there is no reason for it beside ideology.

You said that "why did she let those people in the country" I think. But the most people who wear burqa are people with German citizenships and most immigrants actually are not wearing a burqa. So this issue is not neccssarly against immigration. 

And yes I do think that Merkel would show same devotion against other religious extremism.
