A revolting authoritarian, xenophobic attack on personal liberty, freedom of expression and immigrant culture disguised as a 'safety' and 'women's rights' issue.

If any of us heard it applied to our own lives:

"Tattoos are no longer allowed because they have been associated with gangs"

"Skirts are no longer allowed because they draw too much attention"

Y'all would be in uproar. By the way, these statements are 100% true,  doesn't mean they are correct. You can keep the backwards rhetoric in the past where it belongs. :reductive:

oh shut up what a dumb comparison.

people arent forced to get tattoos for religious purposes under the fear and tyranny of men.

women choosing to wear skirts to express themselves and not wanting to be assaulted for it is NOT the same thing. no.

no its just wildly ironic, the person i quote having the nerve to accuse others of being xenophobic when they supported a man whose bread and butter for winning the election was xenophobia/misogny/homophobia/racism.

shocking, a person not agreeing with everything a politician supports! Look, i know ya'll are into the whole "if you do this then ur a bigot srry i dnt make the rules!!" but it's getting tired af. seriously, the only reason why ya'll post annoying hate about that member is because they like guns and trump. actually, most of you guys hated them before they even said anything about trump bc he likes guns or some ****. so extra.

i'm not saying that them liking trump isn't tragic, because it is, but the obsession some of you have for this member is embarrassing. bringing up that the fact that they like trump when they didn't even mention it is obnoxious.

at all who compare a burqa to some other chosen fashion statements like tattoos, mini skirts, bikinis or whatever...

please keep in mind that the biggest difference to a burqa is, that those things don't make you completely anonymous in a society while a burqa does.

just watch an episode of Black Mirror to know what that can lead to

And besides the women wearing burqas, everytime I see one, I just greet them normally.. What do I get?  One hell of a look, as if I have told them to fck off. :wtf:

Sorry but, this happened E-VE-RY TIME. And it feels like they are being FORCED

That's my experience, they can ban it. I honestly don't want to live with people who are in the society being anonymous behind a veil and not even social at all.

Let people have the choice to be social or not. It's not difficult.

Why would they want to live in a country where faces belong to normal interactions?

Poor you,

you should be ashamed.

Specially as a part of the LGBT community, i thought it meant to be more tolerant, to accept things that you don't really agree. What did they do to you to be scared ? Did they force you to wear it ?

It's completely ridiculous, and that's where Europe and US are going right now.

Still better than any other place in the world except Israel or Japan maybe.

A lot of husbands are forcing their wives to wear the Hijab, or parents forcing their children to wear it. Being forced to wear the Hijab is not how it is in Islam. I am tired of people believing that every single woman wearing the Hijab or Burqa is being forced. Women who believe in the religion and the purpose of the Hijab exist. Although, the people forcing the Hijab on others are starting to increase in Islam. If their's a lot of them, does that mean they are correct? No. This is not how Islam is. Plenty of people are representing Islam in the wrong way. It is making me very sad and ashamed.

I'm not really decided on this issue to be honest.

One side of my brain understands Merkel's point - for communication's (and safety) purposes, I can totally see why the Burqa could be potentially problematic. The other side of me sees it from the woman who wears the burqa's point-of-view. It's something that is a part of their way of life, their religion and it means no harm whatsoever.

I totally agree. At least in public places. Just like how we can't walk naked (which we are born as), then same goes with burqa.

You live in a soc(ial)iety. You enter a store, expect to be greeted, be one to greet back and don't give such hateful look. Else stay HOME or outside. :wtf:
