GP Annoyed With Gagas Late Music Videos

Except for her videos literally made her famous. She wouldn't be where she is now without the Bad Romance video. So the weird thing obviously worked.

Gaga's big problem is releasing the music video weeks after the song is released as a single.  The buzz has died once the video is released.  The Weeknd is smart.  He releases his videos when the single is released.  In Gaga's case, this would help her a lot.

Actually. Bad romance was very held back when it comes to symbolism/metaphors. It did indeed have them. But compared to some of her later works, it was limited. Not to mention it was the first video where she trully delved into the visually weird. Giving the video a more dramatic reputation.

Now of course Gaga went way more weird during that Era. But Bad Romance was really an "all the stars are aligned" scenario. 

 

The first time we see her go head on with a video that's not just to grab attention, is with Born This Way. 

And sadly, if you look closely at Perfect Illusion. You can still see ideas in each individual shot. But because of the "rush of adrenaline" she probably wanted to invoke. The video length ends up making it appear weak. On all fronts sadly.

Good points. I actually like the PI video though. I don't watch it over and over, but I think it really fit the song. It's okay to have a simple vid. And as far as Gaga doing simple goes, I liked it way better than Edge of Glory.

Indeed. While Edge of Glory also used it, (through body language). Perfect Illusion seems to have done the approach of simplicity better.

I think my main critique of Perfect Illusion's video. Is that the song would have fit well with a cinematographic approach. 

I guess we'll see where Gaga is heading with Million Reasons
