Gaga + artists can really learn from Taylor Swift's Bad Blood strategy

I can guarantee no one bought Bad Blood on the basis that Kendrick was the feature. It was completely due to the already hype of the 1989 album as well as the drama around Katy vs. Taylor

personally, I wouldn't like any additions or changes to the songs we have already, and I would especially hate it because I am sure Gaga would have some meaningful explanation for everything, I just couldn't take it.

No, I hate it when artists do this. As do most of their fans. This strategy only appeals to the GP and pisses off the fans. Ask a fan of any artist and they'll tell you that they hate having to buy the single twice because they feel obligated to support them, even though they already bought the album. It's sneaky and disrespectful to the fans. A remix is one thing, releasing the song as if the remix was its initial conception is quite another. The new version usually isn't as good either.

Honestly, using the Taylor Swift example wasn't the best. Taylor was going to have a success with that single, that was just a fact. The album had 2 mega hits preceding it, the album sold millions, the critics loved it, the public loved it. That guarantees a hit third single regardless of how good or bad it is. It didn't make a difference that she changed it a bit and put a rapper on it. The hype, praise and hits that album was generating was what made the song a hit and the radio was totally behind Taylor attempting to smash Katy's 'most #1's from one album' record. It's quite another matter to raise an album from the dead with a generic makeover to a new single. Joanne has had mixed reception and average sales, so re-making one single probably won't change much anyway. The SB might, though, that's what I'm looking forward to. It helped the public gain interest in Beyonce's music again, so here's hoping.
