That's not what she said tho. She insisted for years that "Lady Gaga" is the real her. If I'm not mistaken she literally said that Stefani is Lady Gaga.

She always used to say how the wigs and clothes were her and now it sounds like it was just something she did to please her fans.

Stefani IS Gaga. It is her - but what she's saying is that it does not engulf her whole being, that Gaga is NOT the only thing that is her. Her wigs and her clothes have reflected her identity, but it has become a burden to her in a sense that the fans have caged her inside that identity. That is very much expressed with how some of the fans on here have reacted when she "toned it down" for Joanne, and is one of the main reasons why we are having this discussion right now.

I do not understand how people fail to understand this simple concept, truth of being a human being.

that was actually really good, i like this kind of introspective interviews whre they are not just kissing her ass, but ask a critical questions

i may be reaching for this, but did her answers implied that all this simple grundded traditional type is something that make her family more proud, are more comfertable that she presents heself like that in her work, and becuase Gaga was scared she become alienated from everybody, but not her family is duing this over some guilt. This may just be me.

I kinda hate the fact that she knows about the fans' struggles over her changing looks/genre/style/attitude from era to era - and she has to - so you can clearly see that there's so much pressure around her all the time to make this, make that, perform like this, etc.

I remember from the same show she was interviewed during the C2C era when she said she just wanted to be happy. That's her ultimate goal at the moment. She loved the success that TF-BTW had, but success wasn't the ultimate intention. She just wants to make music, and make people happy, and with that, it makes her happy too.

Second best interview from the era so far. 1st one goes to Howard Stern, obviously. :hor:

Taylor, why didn't you love her the way she loved you? I've been stanning for your love for years and was still rooting for you but she's really heartbroken and I can't watch her being in this pain:sharon::giveup::grr:

Don't forget me when I come crying to heaven's door...

The only positive thing I have to say about this video is that she seemed so happy in that park, and it was nice to see.

I'm not even going to comment on what she said in that interview though. It sadly confirmed what I was thinking and I didn't want to think it's true.

"Gaga had trouble washing off the persona she created"

So she basically once again admits that "Lady Gaga" wasn't the real her. :saladga:

She discussed this during the itunes festival actually. She was using her makeup and her wigs to become someone else to escape her demons, but then she found out she was still unhappy. That's why she had to take them off and prove to herself she could be an artist without the whole thing.

Nobody  is the real them tbh. We're all figuring out who we are. And we're  not even famous artists. So imagine what artists go thru.

What a sweetheart. I hope the minds of some of those fans in the other thread have changed after seeing the quote and Gaga in this context.

I like how she addressed that it is hard for fans to let go of previous album eras.

Also, I like that she pointed out that it WAS hard for her in TF and TFM days - how she felt she had to wear the makeup, wigs, and clothes to see her parents so she wouldn't let us down. She was exhausted, and she was wearing a costume for us. It may have been genuine, but the fact is she was quite trapped in it.

After seeing this, I am 100% ready to move on with Gaga and love her for what she wants to show us. I miss the past, but I want to be a part of the future with her.
