Little Mix are set for glory on the Official Albums Chart this week as the group look set to claim their first Number 1 album.

The quartet’s fourth collection Glory Days has taken an early lead in today’s Official Chart Update, racking up 64,000 combined sales at the halfway stage of the chart week.

If Glory Days can hold its position until Friday’s Official Albums Chart reveal, it’ll mark their first Number 1 album, following three Top 5 collections DNA (2012), Salute (2013) and Get Weird (2015). Click here to view Little Mix’s complete Official Chart history.

Glory Days includes Shout Out To My Ex, which recently became the group's fourth Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart. Check out Little Mix's complete Official UK Chart history here.

Battling it out with Little Mix this week are Metallica, who are currently in the runner-up slot with their tenth studio album Hardwired… to Self-Destruct. The band last reached the top spot in 2008 with Death Magnetic.

Rounding off a potential all-new Top 3 is Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic; the singer’s third album after 2012’s Number 1 record Unorthodox Jukebox.

Good for them!

I think they're nice girls and seem close but I'm just not a fan of their music at all. But congrats ❤️

It's hard to believe they haven't had a number one here yet since they're so successful and popular. So congrats to them.

Sadly tho I think they'll be the typical kind of boy/girl band that puts out an album every year and then tours in that constant cycle that causes them to burn out either due to exhaustion or over-exposure. It's just not a realistic schedule to keep up with these days.

One has no inclination to care

Imagine actually taking the time to click on a thread about a subject you claim to not care about, and actually post in the thread that you don't care about, saying that you don't care. Fortunately I can't relate!

Imagine your eyes being so perfect you typed everything that ACTUALLY happened.

Applause.

They never achieved a #1 before not because they weren't popular but because they were forever getting scheduled for competitive weeks. I don't understand why they were never put to the week before or just after in these cases, especially as the whole point of XF acts is to get those #1's. This is why I always say that in reality, where you place on the charts doesn't matter. Years from now, people will look back at their chart positions and think based on the numbers alone that they weren't that big but then look at their actual sales and number of hits and tour grosses and realise that the charts didn't give the complete story and weren't the be all and end all.

In any case, this certainly gives you hope that your fave can have a #1 album one day if they haven't already. It's rare to see an act that took 4 albums before they got a #1. It also shows that someone can become bigger and bigger with time - not everyone peaks with their debut and then has a descent into oblivion afterwards. I don't know what changed for the group after their second album but somehow, the public just took to them a lot more.
