Also whilst on the subject I guess my point relates more to the general use of 'gay man' or 'gay woman' instead of just 'man/woman' in the media as well which I feel doesn't provide unity.

There is no mention of him being gay at all. The source in the OP however, is very obviously a site centered on gay things so of course they would make the connection of him being dressed as a woman.

I will say though, out of all the cities in TN, I'm surprised this is from Nashville. That's what makes me think its a hate-crime. If it was Memphis, it would be just like any of the 5 killings that happen on any given day.

That is very observant of you except. The Tennessean also didn't mention he was black and didn't provide a picture of him. Yet they provided his entire name. They probably edited out any info that made it look like a hate crime except the fact he was wearing a dress. You should be more angry at the Tennessean than the Gaystar news who decided to look further into it and provided more info from the police officer and links to his friends Twitter goodbyes and one from the the Rickysmiley morning show giving his condolences and providing a link to a story calling Deon Brown him a gay black man. In case you missed that link I will post it here. You should be ashamed of yourself. Taking the side of the mainstream media editing the story instead of reading through everything the gaystar news was reporting.

Look sis, I wasn't taking anyone's side here. I was just telling the guy who was for some reason bothered that the source in the OP made it clear he was gay that a different source didn't mention it. If anything, quote the guy who got triggered because of labels.

Collectively, Nashville is a very gay friendly city. The city itself is very liberal and very nurturing. Nashville prides itself on the ability to bring diversity and unite everyone around a passion for music. 

This is terribly sad I hope that they can get to the bottom of this and provide justice for the victim and family. 

Tennessee is relatively a safe state and hate crimes in this state are very low compared to other metro areas. Memphis however, keeps TN unjustly mentioned as the most dangerous state in the country... but we won't talk about that.

Crime in general is terrible in Memphis- homicide, theft, violence, narcotic abuse, gang related activity (crime). 

From a hate crime perspective though, it's not as bad- it's mostly just your average crime.

After reading this, based on my experience I would glean that:

He found a trucker on a dating app. 

Went to go to hookup with the trucker.

The "trucker" was either messing with him and really only wanted to kill him.

Or the trucker hooked up with him and then came and got that feeling of wtf did i just do and was ashamed and then killed the poor guy. 

 

But who knows. That's just what i thought when i read this.

The fact that California's population is so incredibly high and only ranks at 17 is remarkable. And in turn, yeah, I agree. This makes Tennessee look awful. 

I honestly avoid Memphis at all costs. It's such a shame too- so much history there and beale st. is something that everyone should experience at least once- the risks are just too great though.
